Decent spec, shame it isn't 16GB but I'm sure it can be added!

Heat 🔥
Agreed very good price
It's clear that for the first time in ages, laptops are affordable again. One really has to wonder how much of their usually extortionate pricing Intel has given up to compete with the new AMD threat.
Hopefully Ampere and looming Tiger Lake will push the price down more, ready for Black Friday.
They just announced the 30 series nvidia card to release on 17th of this month. In a couple of months there will be 30 series gpu laptops. 30 series so much cheaper than the previous few series were at launch so best to wait.

Wow, amazing how someone can read or watch something online and be so taken in? the cheapest of them, the 3070 isn't launching until November. itll be at least next year before anything cheaper comes along. They all draw 320watts of juice. A laptop will have around 60watts to play with, depending on the cpu it is paired with so you'll be at least a year away, if not nearer two, i am afraid, so don't go counting your chickens just yet? You'll have the 1660ti beaten to death by the time you'll lay your hands on a 3000 mobile gpu... Exciting news, granted, but still a way off for us mortals... :-) Now if Elon Musk could do something for the battery problem and James Dyson could help us out with the cooling side, we might get there a touch more quickly?

I'm gonna get rid if my 1660 ti laptop. Sell the gtx 1080 and buy a 3080 this months then 😁. Dont know if to get 9700k or the 9900k to go with it though. Or go for 10700k or 10900k

Itll be interesting to see what we will have to pay for them over here. ive just pre-ordered an i13-15950h to pair with the 3080! :-)
This is a great laptop with a big discount
Will last a good 4-5 years before an upgrade is required unless you play very GPU intensive newly released games every year

The 3070 draws 220W.
Lots of speculation here masquerading as definitive, proven fact.
Yes, NORMALLY it would take an age for 30xx series GPUs to reach the laptop market but right now, things AREN'T normal. RDNA2 launches shortly & Intel's Xe after that. Competition for your money will greatly accelerate the rate at which new GPUs move into laptops.
Second, it matters not one jot that the top-tier Nvidia desktop GPUs draw 320 Watts & that laptop GPUs typically draw 115 Watts at most. These new GPUs are built on architectures that are fundamentally MORE EFFICIENT. At some point we'll get an Nvidia 3050/3060 which will make the 1660 ti look like something you'd find in a museum.
I'm hanging on for this new breed of laptop & I honestly don't think I'm going to have to wait that long before I open my wallet!

They will only go as fast as they need to. I give you the 5500M and 5600M from AMD as a point in fact? What hurry is or will be on NVidia to rush these chips through? They will be better served concentrating on the replacememnts for the 1650, 1660, 1660S, 2060 et al first and this is exactly what will happen. I would love to be wrong, but I have been aroud the block too many times to believe anything different will occur this time around. Moreso this time around, as there's absolutely NOTHING to compete with them. Look even at the CPU market. It is a no brainer to get a 4800H, but can you get one? Nope. And they have been around since May. Ryzen 5 1600AF (2600), not seen for ages. Ryzen 3 3300X? Nope, production pulled as it was too good a CPU for gamers and competing with the 3600 and 3600X in games. AMD have become a victim of their own success and the NVidia / Microsoft / Intel Cartel have them sewn up this time around I think. Unless by some ungodly miracle they come up with the goods with Big Navi, but I would bet a pound to a penny that they won't. They had and have their opportunity to make inroads into the mobile market and they have destroyed it, hence we are buying the good auld 10750H, an iteration of the last 2 generations, all with an Nvidia GPU of some sorts. This is how it'll stay for a while I am afraid. I would LOVE to be wrong, but I don't think I am too far off the mark, given AMD's history?

Ah nice, I've got a 750W G2, should be more than enough for the 3080, but I'm gonna get the 3070 instead. Should be a titanic upgrade from my 970.

Ah Yes. Defo if they're claiming that to be more powerful than a 2080 Ti . I hardly used my 1080, like I hardly used the 1070 before that.. and the 980ti. I never give myself time to use these gadgets I buy
Can someone recommend the best gaming laptop for <£1000? I haven't got a student discount availbale.

There is so many 4800H gaming options. Over 10-15 good gaming laptop options
The new Gpus announced look great for desktops but people always forget the significant performance difference once it’s in a laptop. It has the same name but performance can be 30-50 percent less compared to a pc setup.
If Gpu performance really matters it’s best to get a desktop at half the price that performs significantly better than its laptop equivalent
Yes, just got a pre-order in of the new 3090ti. Woooohoooo! New Cooling Solution on them too!41825782-Fnbs7.jpg

And here's another all AMD 4800H/5600M laptop; this time from MSI. Had it not been for COVID, I suspect AMDs offerings would be taking huge chunks out of the Intel/NVidia pie by now.
