I wouldn't mind the display model status so much, but if they're so confident that it's still in A+ condition, then why the crappy 3 month warranty?

Not for me.

Voted hot thinking it was new, but for not new certainly a less good deal.
Good deal. I've just brought a Nitro 5 but with the slighty older chip for £350 off Gumtree, hardly used like new. So this seems decent for the money and a bit of warranty

To be honest if push come to shove you can probably use Acer direct warranty (it’s a recent model so it should be covered) or you could also play the not-fit-for-purpose card under Consumer Rights Act beyond 3 months.

That's what I love about HUKD. There's always someone offering a compelling argument for spending the best part of £500 on something!
Typing on this now, bought this exact deal a couple of months ago. Laptop is great except the fans can get quite noisy, which doesn't really bother me.

So what are you waiting for! Beyond all that, you’re also probably covered by your household insurance so you have many avenues. I don’t think you’ll find many laptops better priced with a proper GeForce GTX card like this - it could do with a true SSD but that’s cheap these days.

How's the screen? IPS presumably?

Get behind me, Satan!

I happen to have a spare m.2 SSD knocking about in the house, so if it takes such a thing then I'm golden.

Been called a lot of things on HUKD before but that’s not one of them

It has an M.2 slot according to various comments and is also probably what the Optane Memory is installed in, but it’ll depend on the size/length of your M.2 drive.

Anyway I’d order it and worry about trivial things like this later

I can confirm the Optane drive is installed in the M.2 drive slot, you can replace it with a fast NVMe drive (like a WD black) and the load up times are amazing.
"professionally plain boxed" - so does this simply mean they paid someone to put in a plain box?

Heat added btw!

Yep, it's IPS and has great viewing angles, much better than the TN screen of the Asus FX504 which I returned.

I'm looking to add an SSD to mine what's best to get a WD Black or Samsung 970 evo plus? Thanks

Is it easy to change to ssd or is it better just to buy with ssd?

The chap above says it's a straightforward job. Just open up the back, whip out the Optane memory and slot in an m.2 SSD in its place.

Here's a review for your consideration - techradar.com/uk/…o-5

Ok thanks, just waiting for the 500gb to come back in stock direct from Samsung for £89 then I'll order
When was the last time you saw a laptop on display, in a cabinet???
Edited by: "Meathotukdeals" 26th May
I'm tempted by this as it seems a decent mod range gaming laptop. The comment above me is right though. There's no way it was in a cabinet. I wonder if it's worth just dropping an extra 200 and getting it new.
Ours arrived today. In original box though the box was not mint, it's pretty good though. Laptop has no marks and looks pristine. No manuals just charging cable. Booted the laptop and it had a 16gb e drive, they've not installed the optane drivers. Downloaded them from Intel and it's much snappier now. Overall, excellent value.
