The only thing going for it that could warrant the price tag would have been the 3080 but since it's an 8GB 100w tgp version that puts the nail in the coffin.

The recent Acer Helios 300 and Lenovo Legion 5 Pro's with 3070's at 150w tgp for £1200 (or even less in some cases) were the real deal.

I really don't know what to buy what with 4000 series in laptops around the corner, but I need one fairly soon

4080 laptop equivalent is likley going to cost more, I would ask yourself what you want from your gaming experience as a decent 3070 laptop is
going to run most games and pretty decent spec and money to performace would recomend over this. obviously this is my opinion. Others may disagree but there's always going to be something better round the corner so think about what you want and buy accordingly. if you not using laptop for anything else and portability is not requirment a good desk top maybe better option as a desktop 3080 will still probably out perform a 4080 laptop version graphics card or not be far out performed.

for £100 more the newer acer predator 2022 spec with rtx 3080 but 15.6 inch screen...+ 6 months xbox game pass worth just under 48£ laptopsdirect.co.uk/ace…asp and amazon now if any one is interested like me. I also haven't voted as hardly any decent deals on rtx 3080 laptops even low powered ones.. there are cheaper alternative rtx 3070/70ti laptops that match some 2021 spec 3080 in performance. (edited)
