The part number quoted on the website takes you to acer.com/ac/…004

This has a 144hz screen going by that, but don't hold me to it as I've no idea if it's as simple a check as that.
Wait. What's going on here:

Ethernet Killer Ethernet port

What?
Good gpu but the asus 999 has better ram better processor and more hd
Won’t cost too much to upgrade another 8gb
Looking at getting a laptop around £1000 mainly for the odd Vr game with the quest
Main concern is the warranty and who is best to buy from

I was thinking that but looking at this video

I would imagine it will have 2 x 4GB in though , so you will have to buy 2 x 8 as the 4's will be no use

Yeah. It's a "gamer orientated ethernet kinda thing"

I've got a y540 and I don't think the ethernet kills anyone, damn!
Wondering if its legal to call 17" ones as laptop?? Powerful but is it really a .....??
All in one ?
It's so annoying when they put 256GB SSD on these, like, it's just not enough, and they know it.

Well it's 2020 where Hard drives are far too slow and especially when external SSDs and HDDs are becoming more common, in my opinion a SSD is just far more future proof and faster.
I have a 4byear old Acer nitro black edition which has a 64gb SSD for operating system and a 1tb for storage. 64gb is no use was windows 10 takes up most of I and struggles at time to have enough space for updates. You would think for the price of this they would have outlet in another HD for storage too.

Obviously, HDD is outdated at this point, and next gen games will be designed around SSD, but 256GB is just too little, it should have 512GB minimum.
So is this better than the MSI ?
Both need at least a ram upgrade but this is 17"and could possibly have better cooling due to size ?

Both would suit me
What’s better then, this with the upgrades to both the ram and hard drive or currys.co.uk/GBU…tml
Which has both upgrades already installed for an extra £200, when back in stock obv.

£200 extra for 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD in my eyes isn't worth it. Cheaper to upgrade yourself if you feel comfortable doing so, however not sure if that would affect warranty. Most laptops have a service door or the whole panel can be removed without voiding warranty though - something to think about.
Hi,

Guys, do know if the screen it 60hz or higher, and if is, how much higher.

Thanks

The model number in the Curry's specs is NH.Q9BEK.004 which when viewed on acer's website lists the display as a 120hz Ips display.

No it's called getting what you pay for, you can get up to 2tb SSDs in laptops but you have to pay for it...
How is a gaming laptop with 8 GB / Storage: 256 GB SSD even hot?
I prefer the MSI to be honest
not a gaming screen

SCREENTouchscreenNoScreen size17.3"Screen typeIPS LCDResolutionFull HD 1920 x 1080pScreen features- Anti-glare

its either the bigger screen or the 120hz msi one i know which one i would rather prefer
a gaming laptop without thunderbolt port is pretty useless IMO for that price. Thunderbolt is useful for having more screens or hook up better graphics when this gets outdated.
I much prefer the x2 pci ssd slots on the MSI much more upgradable.

If you're doing that just get a thin-and-light then and use a GPU in a dock.

Or even better, build a much more powerful mITX machine for less money that can actually be upgraded and doesn't need throwing away after 3-4 years because the battery is knackered. But can still be thrown in a backpack and taken places (and plugged into TVs etc)

for most this 60hz screen will be fine so it will get hot reguardless.
Just picked up a second hand Nitro 7 i9 with 1660ti, 512GB SSD and 144hz. For £840 on CEX. Includes the 2 year warrently. Lovely machine. Only had 8gb ram, but tbh it's handling AAA games no problem and with undervolting, it reaches around 80 degrees.

GPU enclosure is probably the most talked about but least used feature of laptop. It is not portable nor cheaper. I haven't seen a single person use it apart from YouTube videos. Do you use it yourself? Do you know how impractical it is?

Multi-screen is hardly an argument, most gaming laptop have multiple output ports. Why do you need an Thunderbolt for output video? Well, this Acer only has a HDMI but it is a budget option anyway.
