Oh wow I was just looking at this earlier today. How does it compare to the Acer Predator XB271HU do you know? Just the fancy stand and G-Sync? Or are their other differences? Is G-Sync much different to Freesync? Have also noticed the ACER Nitro VG270UP.

I think all monitors need height and swivel adjustments. Apart from that, G-Sync means it's tested to spec. Freesync is a lot in the air. It could work great. It could work poorly. My experience with Freesync isn't great.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting a VESA arm, although I've never had one before, so I don't mind too much about the stand, unless there's something I've not thought of. As I'm going to use it for working from home (as well as for watching films, web browsing and gaming in the evenings) and my previous monitor stopped working, my work will pay for up to £300, but I can go over that and pay more myself. So if there's monitors which are similar but better for more than £280 I may go for one of those, especially if G-Sync is often better. I was hoping for something costing £300-400 but I don't mind spending more if it's going to be better.

It's just tricky to know which is best. I haven't even been able to see a VA monitor despite going to multiple branches of Currys.

VA panels do suffer with poor viewing angles. That's something to consider. But at the same time, compared to IPS, there's no glow and better contrast.
I can't help specifically with these monitors as I've never used them. I tend to prefer VA overall.

Have a look at the 24" monitor I posted also. Multiple monitors?

just bought this although didn't see this deal first. I read a couple of reviews and they all say the omnitor is amazing at this price point.

Not sure against the 271 but this review talks about the Predator XF270HUA:

I've taken a punt and pre-ordered this MSI Optix MAG272QR amazon.co.uk/gp/…4BP
Realise it's VA rather than IPS but it seems an interesting spec sheet for the money especially from MSI.

This deal is another good option though if the MSI reviews badly.
Cracking deal.
HDR 400 too. So tempted must hold on....
Thank you for posting.

I went for the HDR version i.e. the VG271 instead of the VG270. They changed the panel in the VG270 at some point to one with a wider colour range. The VG271 definitely has the new panel.

Good to know. Thanks
The increase in budget friendly 144Hz panels is refreshing (pun intended). I'm wondering when 240Hz will be the norm. Hopefully soon

Didn't see this deal :l just got the vg271 and will arrive tomorrow. The MSI seems more enticing but I can't wait till next year haha
hi, how do Black Friday monitor deals tend to work? I know nobody here is psychic, but in general do I need to decide ASAP because deals change daily or are likely to go out of stock, or can I take a day/a few days to decide which monitor I want? thanks!

Can't say for sure. There has been some good deals in the past.

Thanks, I don't mean new deals coming, I'm more worried that this deal will end or sell out soon. I don't know how Black Friday deals tend to work.

I'm sure this monitor is great so perhaps I should buy it ASAP just in case, however I was also considering buying VA instead or a pricier one with g-sync (if that's better) so had hoped to have more time to research!

You could order now with a custom delivery date if you have prime. That way you can think about it and at the same time not miss out on it. I do this all the time.

oh wow, I didn't realise I could do that thanks so like I shoildy order it for what, 7ish days in the future? and they won't start dispatch or anything?

is the VG271U much different/better do you know? maybe I'll try and find a comparison somewhere. I feel like I've taught myself so much about monitors recently and yet there's still so much I don't know! thanks

Yep exactly.

The 271 has a different panel supporting HDR400 if that's important to you.

Thanks I'll look into hdr400, I don't really know much about it tbh. Any known downsides to the 271? thanks. Sorry for so many questions!

The 271 is the updated version of the 270, as far as I know they've both been upgraded to the same panel but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'll be getting it in a few hours and can update you on if it's worth it or not; I believe it is otherwise I wouldn't have bought it
I've posted a deal hotukdeals.com/dea…822 for the 271 going for £272.65, so cheaper than the 270 and better, so it'd be foolish to buy the 270...

ah I missed it from Amazon. The 271 seems to have quite bad reviews here: newegg.com/glo…uct but not on Amazon so I'm yet to make a decision tbh. I probs should have ordered the 271 on a delay but didn't get around to it...

thanks I have done this for the 270 as the 271 was out of stock and seemed to have worse reviews on NewEgg (Hard to check reviews on Amazon as they're all on same page) but might try and dig deeper later.

I'm really interested to try a VA monitor. Do you know how easy it is to return monitors to Amazon should I buy and try out two or would it be costly, or not eligable for return once opened unless faulty? Don't worry if you've not time to answer, I can try and find out on my own later, just worried about all the deals going, and people here seem to know a lot!

You have to pay for return if not faulty.

For anyone interested mine arrived today. No dead pixels, looks great and performs really well.

Downsides is that the stand is truly awful, but I’m planning to put on a VESA mount and the background light bleed is noticeable. It looks more extreme on the images, but certainly not bad enough to be a dealbreaker!

For the money, I’m very happy!

Anybody able to help. I purchased this monitor and I have a pretty big issue with the screen flickering. It’s constant and all over the screen. The position of the lines constantly changes!

Things to try:
- Try a different HDMI Port on both the monitor and GPU
- Try a different HDMI cable
- Try a different DisplayPort on your GPU
- Try a different DisplayPort cable
- Set the monitor to 120Hz in PC settings

If none resolve it you might have a dodgy screen or your GPU is having issues
