Is IPS worth the 100 odd extra over the TN panel? I read IPS has better colours but not as bright as TN :/

The acer website withdrew this model when I last checked (no add to cart button) it could very well mean they got a new batch of monitors which addresses the issue. I've contacted Acer to see what's going on.

I believe that was because it was out of stock. They don't say out of stock when they are on Acer store they just can't be added to checkout. Please let us know what Acer respond with. I am on my second vg270up from amazon and they both have flicker.

Thank you for pin-pointing this. I was about to buy this monitor, but this is issue seems to be serious and wide spread.

TN panels are horrible. Poor colours and viewing angles. Where as IPS has great colours and viewing angles, but its response rate isn't as good. VA is the middle ground.

Personally, it's IPS or nothing for me.

Ok, I think you just put me off, doesnt appear to be an isolated incident.
Thats nearly half the refresh rate at 75Hz

Would the cheaper one be OK for general use, watching media & other non-gaming uses?

It will be fine for those uses and gaming as well.

I'm a bit of a monitor noob - what differences would you be likely to notice between the cheaper one & this one? Does the cheaper one look OK for the money? Sorry for hijacking the thread!

The one you linked looks fine for the money shouldn't be too much difference in them other than the higher fresh rate, that you will only really notice in gaming if that is not gonna be an issue go for the cheaper one.
£332 although cheap for a monitor of this spec is a lot of money to me.

i would be willing to pay it but not knowing if it will definitely work with my Nvidia 1070 and some of the known issues posted above is stopping me fromimpuler buying this.

suppose it back to the waiting for g-sync prices to drop for me
I got it last week from them for £315, seems they changed the code usable on it from IEM15 to IEM10.

Unfortunately I'm having to send the one I got back. Freesync just flickers on both Xbox and my PC. Also I get random vertical lines flash up for a millisecond occasionally...

Yeah. Guess it's likely my replacement will be the same... Guess I'd have to push for a refund if it is.

Ok I’m out
Acer have finally acknowledged the issue and there is a firmware update to solve it.
But there's no way to update it yourself so all affected users have to send their unit back...

We can only hope all new orders have this updated firmware

Specs on this monitor look great, shame about the flickering issue. I've messaged Acer support to find out if the issue will be fixed on the batch of monitors being sold currently but I have my doubts they will.
