could i use this as a bedroom tv and plug a freeview box into it????????

not good with stuff like this

yes youl need a freeview box with a hdmi output and a HDMI to DVI adapter

yus

Only 1 year warranty on a monitor.. that sucks, most have 3 year warranty.

who needs extended warrenties anyways ,ring your house insurance as k if it needs to be put on it or not,its covered forever, with mine it is anyways,i knocked my monitor over and of the pc desk when doing something and they gave me a credit note to buy a brand new one again, even kept the old one lol, which funnily enough started working again after a while.

and no i didnt scam them,it did stop working.
when connecting to xbox or freeview as said u need dvi/hdmi adapter(about £3) and external speakers

I might be wrong but I don't think you can.

19inch monitors are 10 a penny now and are dirt cheap because everyone wants bigger and with better resolution so they can use it for HD movies and gaming if i where you keep the money and put it towards a minimum of a 22inch.

As for using this with a 360 that would be mad when the 360 is 1080p capable and this monitor is 1440x900 and who mentioned plugging a freeview box in why would you go to the trouble can you even get freeview boxes with HDMI out i don't think you can as HDMI is a high def out put and free view isn't high def and what would you use for speakers or would you read the subs.

well the fact a 360 can output 1080p is great, but most games, infact 95% of games are set to run at 720p and actually look worse when run at 1080p.

freeview with HDMI there are loads, you really should do your homework before blasting

and for speakers u can pick up a 2.1 from asda for sub £15

weird logic.. to me this is a great time to build a wall of 19" for your PC multimonitor setup!
i couldn't give a monkey's about 1080p and besides, don't most people have huge TVs for that??
regardless, this is a good price for a 19" with DVI, i'm just not sure of Acer's build quality..

what's more important for connecting games consoles/movie sources is whether the monitor supports 1:1 pixel mapping so that 16:9 source isnt distorted on 16:10 displays like this. wish this was always clearer in specs.

Didn't say anything about extended warranty... most monitors come with 3yr standard warranty... and as for scamming the house insurance if it goes wrong, what would be the point on doing that with a £75 monitor for one thing.. the excess is usually above £60 per claim AND your insurance would go up too.. and for another thing it's insurance fraud - i'm not being all morally superior or anything, but why commit fraud for £75, LOL - fair enough if you knock it over or something, then most house insurance policies cover it.. but I'm on about the WARRANTY, where it generally covers repairs/replacement if the item goes wrong of it's own accord and not due to accidents etc.
Much cheaper to buy a monitor with a warranty you could claim on if you need to in the 3 years.. then after 3 years prices have usually dropped so that it'd work out cheaper to buy another one anyway with better specs.

my house insurance dont make me pay anything,my monitor broke and i claimed how is it insurance fraud you fool, even if something breaks your house insurance will cover it,or most do anyways.
i know mine does.

and the reason i kept it is i like to tinker with thing and strip them and have a fiddle.
i dont agree with insurance fraud,

but i suppose you are someone that doesnt mind paying £150 a year for house insurance and xx amount for car insurance only to not crash or claim and still pay it,granted it goes down but u should also get a rebate for not claiming inm y eyes, that said i dont do insurance claims i never have and never will,i claim if it have to,i dotn pay content and item insurance for nothing

well you must break alot of stuff then ramiuk. also, it does clearly say on the product not to tinker with it. the fact that you tinker with your stuff and then break it and then make a claim is wrong old chum.

so why not have someone intentionally crash into your car at 30mph so you can write it off get a new one get paid out for whiplash too guess in your eyes that seems fair and correct, right?

I didn't claim that YOU committed insurance fraud.. but you saying that you don't need a warranty if you have insurance is just plain stupid... if the device breaks down (not an accident, but a manufacturers fault) then if you wanted to get it fixed/replaced then you would have to commit fraud....
LOL - what a winner you are... saying that if you have house/car insurance you should claim on it every year basically........ here's the reason everyone's insurance goes up every year... especially if you live in Wigan I suspect.

no i mean,if something breaks, like the monitor i was going to take the screen out and fit it to the car for the kid(to make a flipdown screen)

well im with RBS for my insurance and they told me that it covers me for everything,no matter what the cause or reason for,if its broke, juat packed in or been robbed,so i do.
just because you have a **** insurance provider or deal dont maon at others.

and to correct u,i was saying u dont need extended as most insurance companies cover breakdown of items
