Free backpack and 3 year warranty.

Also, 144hz screen.
I just bought this 10 days ago for £1300!

Any chance I could speak to Currys and get a refund ?

Worst case 14day return it?
1. is this a bad overheater or does it run fairly cool in comparison to other gaming laptops? Review says not bad and undervolted out of the box. 2. is the screen good (anyone here have it?) - seems good from review - the 17 inch has a better screen than the 15 inch, altho does have pwm below 20% brightness.. 3. Is the RAM difficult to upgrade? Answer - no its top access.

Seems good but I went for dell g5 bit more understated but 16gb RAM, 2060 and 15” screen (personal preference) and 3year next day on site warranty £1250, assuming you know how to undervolt seems better but to me but may be wrong

Hi, have you got a link to that please?

dell.com/en-…_hp

They had a 14% off code going the other week (and likely will again) as well and 3 for 2 years warranty. If you know anyone with an ac.uk email address you can still get 10% off.
Best gaming laptop out there at the moment in terms of bang per buck.

Hot.

It does run hot. In Control, it reaches 80C! You have to replace the thermal paste to make it run cooler.
The screen is quite good.
RAM is not difficult to upgrade You get 2 X 4GB Hynix sticks. I got 2 X 8GB HyperX from Amazon for £34ish each.
I also replaced the 256GB WD Black NVME SSD and 1TB Seagate Barracudaaaa with a 1TB Sabrent NVME SSD.

Well, I just bought one LOL.
Is that g5 better?
I would personally wait a few weeks for Black Friday, you are going to see much better prices no doubt.
Seems a good price, but ever since I got a gaming laptop with similar spec for £666 (and by pure accident!) , everything looks a bad deal to me now lmao , I know it's not though so heat added!

How are you finding it?

Are the noise/temperature levels ok? 😁

That's what I've been doing too. I need a new laptop and sooner would be better, but trying to hold off a few weeks.
Last year these dropped like a brick on black Friday.

I was gonna get this but it really is the silliest looking laptop I've ever seen. The newer (blue) one is def nicer than the old red one but still they both have a totally absurd design.

I went for the new hp omen instead, it has no red on it and is a tad less "gamer" looking. Though it does have the usual silly white accents on the WASD keys and some macro buttons to the left of the keyboard which most will never use and take a bit of getting used to.

Overall the Omen (after using the two) is much better. Especially the heat difference and noise levels. The Omen doesn't go into full helicopter mode like the Helios or even worse my old msi laptop. The screen on the Omen is also better looking imo. Though imo the the keys on the Helios feel better
Just viewed it in store...screen seemed dim and washed out

Same, I've just sold my desktop rig in favour of a laptop (for work and gaming) but gonna hold out buying one until black friday too!

There's always some good deals on laptops. I remember Dell had a massive sale last year.

You gonna go with 17.3 or 15.6? I always had a 15.6 for the portability, but nowadays I'm starting to feel the screen is too small for gaming and even worse for stuff like Ableton. Definitely going for 17.3 this time.

I hoping that'll be the case, I like the look of the HP Omen 15, so hoping a decent specced one will drop in price a fair bit but will weigh up the options as they come up!

Keep your eyes out for deals on eBay too as sellers there will probably drop prices too.

Plus Amazon usually do a 20% off deal on warehouse items (but they can be hit or miss with the quality of items).

Probably a 15.6, it's going to be a work laptop so need the portability, would love a larger one but having looked at some today, they're just a tad too bulky for me personally. I used to play around on Ableton on a 24" monitor and I always felt like that was too small, so I get what you're saying!

Ebay is a good shout, didn't think of that so cheers!

And yeah, I've never trusted Amazon warehouse after a couple of items being poor quality. Cheers for the tip tho!

I was starting to hate eBay as if you sell something, you have zero rights. However, as a buyer, it's worth checking out.

I've bought some audio equipment there recently and picked up some bargains. Picked up a mint Sony RX10 II camera for just over £200 too.

There's some good refurbished deals there. Though during Black Friday you might be better buying new instead as the price difference won't be as high.

Yeah I agree, I sold my gaming pc rig on gumtree, much prefer a face to face meet and they can see the item and accept it there and then! I'd happily pay a small premium for new over refurbed tbh.

For a newer laptop, 100% agree, but there are good deals on some older laptops that you can't get in the shops anymore.

For example, the 8750H that the 9750H replaced is not that much different from a performance point of view. Likewise, you'll see good deals on older Xeon based laptops with quadro GPUs e.g. Lenovo, Dell, HP etc. If you're not gaming, these could be a good option as they have good specs elsewhere such as 4K screens, higher max RAM, better upgradability etc. I've been looking at them a lot as I need one that can handle video editing and encoding.
Bum, expired. Didn't have the balls to get it the other day and now OOS. :'(
