The same laptop is £1099 on acer UK site even with black Friday offer. Cheaper to import from USA.

Price includes import fees and shipping charges. Downside is longer delivery obviously.

Absolutely stonking deal

Good price but anyone importing from the US will likely have to pay import tax.

And from what I can see, it has to be shipped to a US adress to qualify for free shipping

Price includes shipping cost.

Surely the OP has got a proof of picture showing the price of £861 with VAT/duty/shipping inclusive. Would be even cheaper using a no fee credit card paying US dollars.

Oh no! Just bought the laptop from acer website last night... quick question. When you shop on Amazon US do you have to worry about import taxes or any special handling charge etc...?

Can I just say quidco do 11% cash back if you shop on Acer UK store.

Order Summary
Items: GBP 701.44
Shipping & handling: GBP 16.87
Total before tax: GBP 718.31
Estimated tax to be collected: GBP 0.00
Import Fees Deposit: GBP 143.66
Order total:GBP 861.97

AmazonGlobal makes international shipping easy by calculating import fees at checkout, as well as clearing customs for you. In addition, you have the visibility to track your packages door-to-door.

yes you do
it is roughly 20-30%

What about warranty? Is it compatible with 230v?

Warranty isn't International - You would have to send it back to the US afaik

I couldn't see that at the time tbf. No denying it's a blinding deal but these are the sort of things people need to know when importing from another country.

Will you have to pay VAT as well? Sorry for the questions, I'm just trying to get my head round the added costs as I'm interested in buying myself.

Edit* Just had a look at the yougov website and this came up

"VAT's charged on goods imported from outside the EU at the same rate as if youbought the goods in the UK. VAT-registered businesses can reclaim the VAT as input tax in the same way as VAT is paid on UK purchases. You'll also have to pay VAT on any import duty."

Has this already been accounted for in the price you paid?

Close to pulling the trigger on this. Is that the price all in? There won’t be any further charges when it arrives in this country? Sorry if I sound stupid never ordered anything from overseas befor

Yeah I'm in the same boat Stacky, but okay with the costs just weighing up if it's worth it for an American keyboard and return to base for the warranty!

Seems great but anyone else able to confirm an international warranty?
Acer have an 'international travelers warranty' but it looks like there may be issues?

Think I've solved my own question.
You can use the ITW as a one-year warranty over here BUT you have to have a foreign passport...
Which I don't...

Aww, so conflicted- for the price, this is insanely good.
Edited by: "Clunton" 24th Nov

Yeah just found the below too

Elegible models : Acer Branded Notebooks / Netbooks and Tablets

Scope: The ITW is a separate program from the local warranty
  • ITW cannot be interchanged with the local warranty.
  • ITW does not apply in the country of purchase.
  • ITW is only applicable where there are ITW service locations.
  • To comply with Microsoft's licensing regulations, the ITW does not cover software-related issues. You are responsible for providing recovery and software backup discs if required.
Qualified Claimant: A "bona fide traveler"
  • Someone who is temporarily outside the territorial scope of the local warranty covering the respective product, without the intention of establishing a permanent residence.
  • Someone who possesses the original product sales invoice.
Acer's ITW Service Centers reserve the right to require proof to verify the traveler status of a claimant.
Standard Service Mode: "Carry-In"
  • You will shoulder shipping or transportation costs to bring the product to the service location.
  • Acer will shoulder shipping or transportation costs to return the product to you.
Term: One year from the date of purchase
  • You may be required to present a formal sales receipt showing the purchase date.

damn put it my basket and as I was adding an American freight forwarders address It went oos

So are we saying this could be more hassle than it’s worth if you had any issues

The price has gone up, works out around £1100 now

got one, one came back into stock. Someone must have cancelled it. Think it works out as £735 including the freight forwarder but hard to know as my credit card may charge me for using dollars

Deals off then boys. The risk is with regards to the warranty as some have said. Reading into it, you would need to send to Texas and Acer can only return to a USA address. However, Amazon T&C' s say the will replace if under warranty and it cannot be repaired, so bit of a grey area.

I'm getting £963.
No longer a steal, considering the warranty and power supply issues...

Power supply not exactly and issue, power blocks are universal just need to spend a few quid on the plug.

Good luck with warranty if you have any problems with it

damn wish i saw this that is a bargain. they increased the price now though so it's expired.
