Looking for a gaming laptop. Not a serious gamer. This looks like a reasonable deal, but will it do the job?

Worth putting 17.3 inch display in the title.

Anyone can come up with a better alternative at this price.

PS4 pro and a tv
Glad I asked. What graphics card should I be looking at in a laptop? In fact what would be the min spec I should get? Definitely wanting a 17 inch screen though. Not necessarily looking for cheapest, but good value for money.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you (or I was until I read up and did my homework!):

If you're looking to game then 1660Ti is the minimum. You can find good offers at Dell Outlet (Topcashback), especially so if you e-mail them and ask for a first-time customer discount (10% off, at the bottom of the following link): dell.com/lea…als

I'm going for a 2060 or 2070 GPU, and i7-8750 or 9750 (8 and 9 is the generation/year, so the 9750 is the most recent one).

Quality goes (in ascending order): 1650, 1660Ti, 2060, 2070, 2080. The 2080 is bonkers money.

I also want a 144hz screen (so you can get 144FPS in games) and a 512GB SSD inside so I don't have to move things back and forward between a smaller (128/256) drive and the bigger one they usually pair one with (1TB, non-SSD).

An easy way to find what you want is to select 6GB and 8GB on that Dell Outlet link in the Video selection, so it only shows you laptops with good GPUs (should be around 15-20).

Here is what I would suggest:

That is if you don't need the 512GB SSD like I do. It's not a 144hz display but the GPU is decent, RAM is good, screen size is what you want, and backlit keyboard.

After VAT (*1.2) and minus 10% (*.9) it works out £993 delivered.

Keep an eye on the outlet if you're looking for that SSD size and a better GPU, I reckon you can find something for around a grand.

Edit: today they just put up a 14% off code: DONINSP001

Great stuff!
