Just a random deal I found. Thin and light GTX 1080 MaxQ laptop for around £1500 is pretty good imo. Sadly it's using 7th gen i7 and not the 8th gen but still, pretty good for the price.

Just a heads up - my buddy bought this laptop (with a bigger ssd) for music production, and he had so much trouble with it he had to return it in the end and get a different one (asus). It just never really worked properly and seemed to develop a new issue every day. Personally I'd stay away even at half this price, but it's your trip

Thanks for the heads up. To be honest I think a significant percentage of all gaming laptops suffer problems. There's always going to be that delicate balance of thermals Vs performance, and there are always lemons coming g out of factories.
Very tempted by this... I was looking at a GTX 1070 laptop for around 1100 but the reviews for this are very good (with the exception of the battery life!)

Has anyone had experience with this laptop? I’m wondering how much of a change the trackpad is and whether it’s enough to put you off it

Nice find OP

GTX 1070 is almost the same speed as 1080 Max Q, a 1070 for 1100 sounds like a really good deal

Dayum, a 1070 for £1100? That's amazing!

Ah right. That makes more sense.
Actually now that I think about it, I got my laptop much cheaper than it should have been. Got a GTX 1070 laptop for £1100 around 2 years ago brand new on ebay.

Keep an eye on HUKD or set up a key word alert. There was a deal for Asus Scar 2 with 16bg ram, 512ssd and 1070 for around £1100 about 2 weeks ago. They go quickly though, the only thing that put me off was reports of thermal throttling... I am waiting for 2060/1660ti laptops to drop to reasonable prices as thermals have improved greatly... Man, I wish I had space for a proper PC

Thanks for that, will use in future! I actually pulled the trigger on a HP Omen 15 GTX 1070 model yesterday, which cost me £1,050 for an ex stock as new condition so pretty happy as reviews are very good for it, and thermals seem to be sorted after a BIOS update
