I've pulled the trigger on this... I was after something to work on during the day and then something to game on in the evening. Originally was scoping out to buy a 2560x1440 27" + (and wanted over 60hz for gaming) - struggled to find anything below £500.

Came across this. Happy to go with FHD pic, will instead look to push GPU on FPS and optimise the 144hz.

If anyone can come up with something in this price range with my original spec. Let me know (quick!).

Details (from ebuyer) -

Was £429 now £299

Specs:

31.5" curved
1920 x 1080 @144Hz
AMD FreeSync
HDMI & DisplayPort
4ms Response Time
Height Adjustable

31.5", 144Hz!!!
1920 x 1080

I ended up doing similar a few weeks ago, i couldn't stretch to 144hz, g sync and 1440p so chose 27" 1080p 144hz and g sync. Pleased as noticed massive difference over previous 24 60hz . I really wasn't sure which to miss out on. Playing bf1 at 120- 150 fps on ultra and more than happy. For reference the monitor was this one

Went for the 27" Benq here:
amazon.co.uk/Ben…+27

Not quite as grand as what you've found but if you're looking to go a bit cheaper I can recommend the warehouse deal. £315 less 20% for one that's likely as good as new.

Had mine a good few months and it's been bang on. Games like Doom & Fallout now run well at 144hz synced with the monitor.

It was all going so well :-)

state the obvious!

FHD at this size will surely be awful pixel density?

Yeah will look absolutely terrible.

Yes, you are the village idiot who lost £299 down the drain. 31 inch monitor with 1080p resolution. How intelligent.

Actually I don't agree , standard 4k, low fps, hz and without g sync , I would rather have 1080 high fps and g sync, each to their own. Price v price.
In ideal money no object world 4k and all the bells and whistles would be better of course.

Huh. I was going to recommend this:

ebuyer.com/720…001

144Hz 27" IPS with FreeSync, which Ebuyer have had for £389.99 for the past few days, but they've jacked the price up to over £580 all of a sudden. Was considering buying one myself, so that sucks.

It could be 63 inch monitor and i could be sitting a meter away, but curved monitor is just a laughable nonsense.
And you are worrying about 1080p on this piece of charlatans magic.

You cant hide old footage at high altitude with totally flat horizon at ANY altitude, but you can develop screens which can help you to create and continue that illusion for future generations.

Welcome to the future.

too low a res to be used as a monitor, might be OK as a screen in a teenager's bedroom for a games console where a bunch of them sit round playing FIFA and thus further away...

but then it'd be cheaper to buy a 32" TV, for that money you can buy one with a decent screen!

I have this monitor. I'm impressed.

I'm sure I read if you're sitting close to it you won't notice the difference in resolution much anyway. Slightly bigger monitor, although no freesync:
amazon.co.uk/Ben…h=1

EDIT - I take it back, it's not actually available at that price from amazon only a 3rd party seller with no reviews.

I'd grab one of these if I were you, cheap as chips.

If you're gaming, TN is not a bad place to be, no DP which is a shame, but DVI still pretty common amongst GPU.

Rubbish.
Curved on a widescreen is the perfect combo for the tech it's based on. It's all about viewing angles.

TFT tech has always had an issue of bad contrast and colour reproduction when viewing a pixel that isn't directly in front of you. This is true for TN, IPS and other types of panels, even though some are better than others.
By curving the screen, you allow the eye to see the pixels 'straight' on, relative to its curvature if you're in the correct position.

On a TV a few meters away, then curved is largely pointless as you'll get worse viewing angles unless you're in a central position with the perfect distance. The same goes for a screen too small, even directly in front of you - you'll get the same issues.

However, an ultra-wide, curved, at the correct distance is bliss. This is exactly where curved monitors shine and should be used.

It's not G-Sync mate, it's just their 3D technology that's integrated.

Depends what games you play and what your PC spec is as to whether you truly need the sync tech.

Picked up a gtx 1060 - will be using to play say Forza and Battlefield - any recommendation on monitors appreciated. Now torn if I go back to original plan of 2560x 1440 and be content with say 75htz - stick with the above - or now look for a gsync @ 144htz!

If I don't see some 144hz 1440p gsync deals soon I'm going to call Samaritans, my Christmas is looking choppy and low res

Seems that the new pascal cards have pushed all g-sync monitors prices up.
