It's nice but I couldn't settle for less than 4k anymore, especially at this size. Still seems feature packed.
Had this model for a few months and it's excellent! Hot!

I can just about run 2k at a decent frame rate, what beast of a machine are you running lol?
Got excited early when I got an alert, thought it was the 1440 165 but this is a nice monitor.

Fair point, but might be worth spending a few extra quid and thinking ahead. A few years down the line you may end up wishing you had spent the extra on a decent 4K monitor. It should make 2K content look a little sharper too

Thanks for posting! I've been keeping my eye on this monitor for a while and decided to bite at this price. The lowest I've seen otherwise was around £600, so this is an awesome deal in my eyes

I'm just running a single 1080ti, I7 8700k, 32GB ram. I can't max everything out in all the games I play at 4k but most of the games I can. I find at 4k though you don't really need to bother with AA because the jaggeis are pretty much kept in check by raw resolution. So i just crank up the settings as high as I can to achieve 60fps+.

Whilst I take your point on board I do think it's mental in today's gaming world that people have the disposable income to consider that price great. I work my arse off to the bone and really struggle to justify spending 100 quid on a top quality fight stick

Depends what you need. As high Hz 4K monitors haven’t been released yet and when they do are going to be extremely expensive plus there are no gpu setups really good enough for high FPS 4K, this actually means the sweet spot gaming right now is 1440p high Hz for most gamers. 4K still has a way to catch up.

Yea, I'm not really fussed over high Hz monitors as I don't play any twitch shooters or competitive games. I play games like the witcher 3, Assassin's creed and rise of the tomb raider where 60fps is more than good enough. So for me 4k is preferable, I did have a Benq 1440p monitor before I went 4k and although it was great I can't really can't go back.

I'm fine without 144hz, I'm not a fps or moba player so it's really not needed. I play racers and rpgs pretty much exclusively so 60fps is perfectly fine. Besides my monitor is not 144hz but it is a 4k gsync so it's perfectly serviceable.

Yeh I used to have 4k and I did the same. You can afford to turn AA off as it's so sharp and nice looking without it. Man your making me miss my 4k monitor lol. Well I always miss it BUTTT I just had too many issues with it that I got rid. I will no doubt pick up another in the future but right now I couldn't handle it. My biggest issue was the tiny text and incompatibility in games with no work arounds. Though a lot of games where ok it did annoy me still.

I thought about getting a 4k monitor again and having another spare for games that don't work so well in it. If I ever change my mind about my current monitor I may sell it and get a 4k one again and keep a 1080p one aside for older games or games which cause me trouble. Could even upscale the 1080 one to make look better. I know my mate used to do that now he has a 4k monitor plus his 1080 for any games that do not work so well in 4k.
2560x1080, deal killer
it needs to be at least 1440p Ultrawide at this size and price

That's my point though, a 4K monitor will upscale 2K content.

You are talking as if there is some 'value add' to the upscaling, while what it is really doing is just doubling the pixels so it will look ok on a 4k resolution.

If you are trying to convince someone to buy a 4k monitor because 2k content will 'look better' you are mostly incorrect.

As for whether or not to buy a 4k monitor, I think the answer is 'No, unless you don't game on it'.

If you play games, buy a 2k monitor for now, and wait (yes wait) until the standard GFX cards and monitors operate at 4k. 4k is a premium cost and it often comes at a significant reduction in monitor quality.

This Monitor is just a stretched 1080p monitor, I would skip it and look for the other predator monitors that do 2k (stretched or not).
I would like to keep 2 monitors too but unfortunately I only have room for 1. I can't even mount one above my monitor due to wall shelving so I basically bought the best 4k monitor I could afford which was the
Acer Predator XB281HK. It's a great monitor for my needs.

And that's fine, that's preference. A lot of people also prefer 144hz displays and are happy to have a lower resolution as it makes maintaining a high FPS easier on lower tier GPUs.

There are currently no 4k 144hz monitors available so purchasing a 4k monitor is rather pointless for the next 1-2 years until volta and appropriate displays are released.

I guess you can't miss what you've never had. If you ever played on a 144hz monitor and went back to anything less you'd notice. At least I have noticed. 100hz 4k would be just about fine but I could never push myself to buy anything less than 144hz again.
