I'm not an expert but I bought the 27" LG on Ebuyer the other day. However, my son wants one too but they have now gone up. I have found this as an alternative. Can some of the experts out there advise which is the better deal?

Why do people vote cold but not explain why?

agreed. would really like to know why this is a bad deal.

Good price, aimed towards professionals, this screen is not for gaming (if anyone was considering it).

Deal for same product £349.97 at eBuyer was posted a few days ago and that's at +69 hotness currently...

The Office Nerd page says its native resolution is 2560×1440 but that's probably just a mistake.

Anyway... compared to the LG 27UD58, this has a tilt/swivel/pivot stand and a USB 3.0 hub which the LG doesn't. The Acer doesn't have FreeSync though. And if it's like the (different model) Acer UHD monitor I have here, the panel refresh rate is fixed at 60Hz. It converts source video at any other refresh rate to 60Hz by duplicating or dropping frames.

Meaning if you set your PC desktop to 50Hz, or connect a Blu-Ray/DVD player over HDMI playing a PAL disc, what should be smooth motion isn't, because the monitor duplicates one in 5 frames. I tested my monitor (again, an Acer but not this model) and it even does that for 59Hz input.

hdmi 1.4 imputs so, you are limited to 30hz on two of the inputs! so your gfx card must have dp1.2 outputs

Maybe wait for the LG to come back down then

Depends. I think this is a good price for 27" UHD IPS with height/tilt/pivot stand. The LG 27UD68P is £400 by comparison. If you don't need FreeSync or HDMI 2.0 and will only ever have your PC set to 60Hz refresh rate, this would be fine.

I don't know the refresh rate of my laptop but it has a 4k screen itself. I do want to use a bluray player though. I don't think freesync is important as I don't game

so if this monitor is bad what is good one to get 32inch or at least 27 for a gtx 1070 thanks for any help with this as ever scoot

It's probably not bad for the price. With a GTX1070 you couldn't use FreeSync anyway.

The LG 27UD58 was recently £300 on Amazon and will no doubt drop back to that or lower sooner or later. It has a rubbish stand and no USB hub, but if those don't matter you could consider that. Being FreeSync-capable it should definitely natively display both 50Hz and 60Hz video.
