Good price, and this supports Android Play store (via the beta channel). However, processor lets it down. Even for ChromeOS, this is slow.

No play store, no touch screen. Only few Google apps work on chrome book

It's never a good idea to get a 2GB Chromebook no matter the price. As the 4GB R11 isn't available in the UK get the Asus Chromebook Flip if you want a convertible.

This DOES have a touchscreen. And it does have the Play Store. Using the one I got my daughter for Christmas right now, in fact. Great for her needs.

Is there anywhere doing the Flip for this price though as just searched on Amazon and it's £100 more than this?

Thanks Mark.

Can it do Linux?

Seems to be two versions available in the UK. One with 16gb eMMC memory and one with 32gb. The 32gb has a marginally faster processor. Both have touchscreens and are some of the first Chromebooks to have access to the Android playstore.

The R11 in the US are much better. They have a 4gb variant as well as significantly better processors.

In case you are looking for YouTube videos to see performance, make sure you are checking a UK review.

It's true that it has the Play Store, but importantly it should be pointed out the Play Store is in beta on Chromebooks currently.

So wonderful people if I had to choose between this or this

with my £150 budget - which would be a better buy?
They both have capability for the playstore I think - does anyone know does the Asus have a touch screen?? I've googled and some say touch pad rather than screen?
All help and advice most appreciated!

The 4GB version is available in the UK. I paid around £230 for it in September:

Thanks for correcting me.

One thing I will say about the R11. I don't imagine it's unique to the 4GB version but the battery life is a beast. Easily over 10 hours on average. The R11 is one of the first to have official Android apps and runs them pretty well.

Wrong time to buy a Chromebook right now hold out until next year, new models due, once google gets it but_ in gear with android

Im in the same situation as you i think.
About to travel Auz so a chromebook may suit my needs.
Came across this. £200, 4GB, can access Play Store....
Unless anyone here wants to correct me, the £50 extra than the two you highlighted seems worth it....

The R11 on Acer website comes with 4GB
