Heat but I'm after a cheap IPS with freesync.

A review from Argos:

I purchased 2 of these to replace much older 21" acer monitor. Text rendering on this monitor is very poor. I've used many different monitors over the last 20 years and none have rendered text as poorly as the R241YBMID. After setting the monitors to their native 1920x1080 resolution, the text was never sharp enough without having to really squint at it. Returned and replaced with 2 Dell U2414H's, the difference is night a day

Yeah, got it yesterday, lovely bit of kit, colour settings may want a slight tweak, brightness is defaulted to 100%
A far superior monitor over my Son's AOC.

Maybe you needed to go through the cleartype text wizard.
