Argh.. Celeron ron ron ron

I honestly don't get the hate.

A more powerful processor = higher battery use.

Nobody in their right mind is going to use this for anything other than light browsing, emails, and as a portable office/word processor thing.

You could whack a nicer processor in it but the price would increase, the battery life would fall, and most of the users this sort of device is aimed at would see very little benefit at all.
Would recommend the 64GB version. 32GB just not enough for updates.

Good price.

For basic browsing/word processing etc etc this is fine.

Screen is cracking as well.

If only this came with chromeOS it would free up so much overhead for that crappy CPU!

You would want a ARM CPU with Chrome OS though for Android apps. and even with Chrome this CPU would still be crappy.

True, but some Chromebooks have i5 and i7 CPUs.

Also Chrome apps ≠ android apps.

This.

It's such a pain having a 32gb machine. Updates are too big so you need a large usb stick and then even then it fails half the time.

You'll be lucky to be able to install any application on 32gb.

Not always necessarily true.

Some higher end processors are very efficient and does a better job than a cheaper, slower processor

True that it's not always necessary true.

But it is true in this case.

Really? My ageing Linx 32gb tablet is running the latest Windows 10 update and full MS office 2016 suite + other stuff and has used a little over half the available flash. For me that's fine.

Tablet OS uses less space than laptop OS. My daughter got a laptop as part of the exemplar education home online tuition. Has 32gb on it, nothing installed apart from Windows 10 and Firefox. Doesn't even have office.

It wouldn't update to latest Win 10 as there wasn't enough space so I had to buy a 16gb memory stick to use for updating.

I've just sent one of these back. Mainly because it had a faulty track pad. It was my Dad's and he'd only just had it. He'd hardly installed anything on it, only had it about 3 months, and it only had 6gb storage left and it wouldn't update Windows 10. I would want at least 64gb if I bought one.

I had a asu’s transformer tf100ta with a Atom quad core z3740 cpu. i upgraded to a t300 chi with a core m5y71 and to be fair the t100 is the one i miss. adequate performance that went for 10 hours, rather than 4.
Ao isnt a great company if things go wrong. My mother has just had issues with doa mucrowave. Ok we all know that that can happen in life but the response from the customer services was quite unbelievable they said that they could not exchange it and it had to be exchanged with the manufacturer. Which is completely wrong as a contract is formed between you and the seller. So just a heads up for anyone thinking of it you might want to think twice
Grabbed one of these for the missus.

Updating was a pain.

The important thing is to delete both the windows.old folder (using the disk cleaner) AND to regularly purge the Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download folder(s).

Easy as once you do that. You may need to do it several times to get all the various updates installed.

I'm upgraded, the machine absolutely flies, and I've got 10gb spare.

Not a lot but then she's only using this to stream from Plex, browse, and word process.

That's plenty of room for that.

It's still Windows 10, so the same on the Linx as laptop, no?
Similar specs to the Lenovo 120s, which is being given away free when you sign up for John Lewis Broadband & phone; though the Lenovo is a laptop, not a convertible.

Isn't £179 too much for a screen that's cracking?
How about an iPad pro? They look cooler, Apple is like the best company and iPads use an OS, which non Apple stuff don't have (???). iPad pro is perfect for browsing the web

Doesn't seem very reliable
Speaking of 2 in 1 laptops, does anyone know a decent spec 13.3 inch laptop for around £500-600?

Any other advantage apart from looking cooler?

Subjective. You can't get black ipads and black always looks cooler in my opinion.

Exclusivity of the operating system is a con not a pro. It means a limited ecosystem across which to share your apps and content etc. Also the nature of iOS means limited personalisation and access options, without jailbreaking.
Update on ours: brilliant machine this!

Battery lasts all day easily and it's seeing A LOT of use just because it's so bloody quick and convenient.

If you need a light portable computer for browsing and word processing jump in. You're unlikely to do better at this price point.

But be prepared for the faff of updating initially if you do (see my post above).
Can anyone link me to the 64gb version, I can't seem to find it.
