I suppose a £10 saving is a £10 saving....
Poor deal in my opinion. 2 Generation old CPU. 4GB Ram is just about manageable. I think you could get a bit better for your money. The 8GB model is £40 cheaper on eBay Argos refurbed and also has a newer processor the I3 7100U.

2 in 1 i3 convertabile with FHD IPS screen that is portable with '10 hr' battery life? If I was studying again I would be all over this deal. That laptop from eBay is 15.6'' and not portable. Good luck trying to lug that around.

It's average at best. Just checked the Dell outlet store for an extra 50 odd quid I can get a 2 in 1 I7 laptop. With about 50% more processing power twice the ram and twice the SSD storage. Making the overall Laptop twice as good as this for around £50 quid more. Works out £434 with the mothers day code: DOMOTHER12. There is also many different variants of this laptop. The laptop on Ebay is 13.3" they've just made an a slight error in the description.

Dam! This is what you get for trying to help someone out lol Dell outlet is actually pretty impressive. I have bought of them several times and they were all 'New' condition. Also comes with a full 12 month warranty. Stop getting sore I was trying to help you out with a deal that was better. I'd rather have a pretty quick refurb then your dead beat Argos trash

That Dell will be plus 20% VAT.

I am typing on one now. The battery life is cr*p out of box and gets worse. The A key no longer works - look online and numerous people complain of the Q, W, A, S or W key stopping wokring - the heatsink is directly under them and these things overheat big time.
Before the discourse unravels further, I think that Skyblues was saying that the Dell laptop, for a little more cash, is a much better tool overall, despite the fact that it's a refurb or scratch and dent.

Dell's warranty on these things is just as good as buying new and at the end of the day a better workhorse will be more productive and pleasurable to use.

Also, most dell refurbished are indistinguishable from new and a month down the line you'd be more thinking about how good the thing is to use rather than how shiny and new it is.

So I would say that rather than being a naive point of view, it's a pragmatic and mature point of view.

On balance, if I was buying a machine in this class I know which one I'd rather have.

100% agree. A Dell 15.6" from the other thread for example comes it at around 2.4kg. That's a heavier than a paving slab. Throw in the charger and you're looking at 2.8kg of unnecessary weight.

Nobody carries around just the laptop and nothing else (unless you're 15 years old and going to your school friend who lives just down the road).

Throw in the charger, laptop case, files, documents, lever arch files, backpack and all the paraphernalia associated with traveling around the place and I could easily be lugging around 10kg+. I have a 15.6" gaming laptop but hardly take it out of the house as a complete pain. Forces me to have to take another backpack to carry my other stuff as the laptop is thick, oversized, and heavy. I always have to keep my eye on it at train stations along with other stuff I'm carrying.

Brick like 15.6" are really from the 1990s. Thin and slim with TB3 is the way to go.

It's just your old laptops from the 1970s/80s/90s that weigh as much as paving slabs.

Why would I bother. If you weren't, to quote your own words, "really ignorant", you would have been able to see that I already have a 15.6" laptop, so I'm well aware of the weight and portability. The difference in weight between a 13.3" and a 15.6" isn't significant, and is far outweighed by the advantages of the bigger screen. It's a matter of choice, and there are still plenty 15.6" and even 17.3" laptops being carried around.

You're pouring scorn or scoffing at the above comments because you simply don't know any better. Are you going to pull out a 17.3'' laptop on the tube to write a memo to your boss? If I had to carry a 15.6'' laptop day to day after awhile I would think 'I hate carrying that piece around with me'.

Not at all. 15.6" is an outdated form factor in 2018. Unless you're a gamer, having something this thick and bulky is completely pointless:

33415350-TAbKf.jpg
In comparison, look at how slim even a £160 13.3" laptop is:

33415350-fSfPK.jpg
The 13.3" Swift 7 is even thinner than a modern day smartphone:

33415350-9XJwW.jpg
All that unnecessary thickness, bulk and weight of a 15.6" laptop is completely pointless for anyone who doesn't play computer games all day long...

I'm neither pouring scorn nor scoffing. I'll leave that to you. I'm just pointing out reality. 15.6" and 17.3" laptops are still being made and sold in their millions. Are you saying that all these people are <insert your own insult>?
If all you're doing is writing a memo, you could do that on something a lot smaller than a 13.3" laptop. You'd inconvenience your fellow passengers less as well.
And the difference in weight between a 13.3" and 15.6" laptop? Still weighting for the answer.
