Excellent laptop, nice build all metal, genuine 10 hrs battery life. The screen is fantastic.

Acer's Swift 1 has a sharp, 13.3-inch, 1080p display that outputs vibrant colors. According to our colorimeter, the Swift 1 reproduced 125 percent of the sRGB color gamut, a score that surpassed the Swift 3 (80.5 percent), the Inspiron 13 5000 (71 percent) and the Asus VivoBook (68 percent), along with the category average (100 percent). These results were very evident when I watched the "DNA" music video by BTS. The colorful scenery and outfits were stunning to watch. I was impressed that the Swift 1's display was keen enough to capture the dimensional smoky blue tones in Suga's hair.
pretty balanced actually, and 1080p is welcome

The spec on the Argos site is misleading - have re-posted to clarify.

According to the video you can't upgrade the RAM, but you can add an SSD.

It'll be fine for that.

The Solid State Drive helps a LOT, too.

In theory, this will feel a lot faster than other laptops with faster processors but with standard mechanical hard drives. Solid state drives really do make all the difference.

I've got a cheap Acer laptop with an eMMC drive, which is inferior to SSDs but superior to normal hard drives. It has a Celeron processor and 4GB of RAM, and the thing feels a lot faster than my Lenovo laptop with Core i5/8GB RAM/1TB HDD.
so with this you can add storage?

M.2 but its not PCIE? its normal Sata it seems like from a video I just watched

still decent enough though

Thanks for the reply
I got the 64gb for £269 a while back - the 128 was £50 more so I got 2tb external drive with the £50 saving - I would advise this 128 as there is only 20gb spare on the 64gb - as mentioned in above video it will be difficult to remove the back - I've not managed it with the tools I have.

Shame there's no optical drive.
How is this compared to an i3? Thanks.

Processor v Processor, it won't get near an i3 (6th gen, as per the price point). As previously mentioned, it would however run much better than a superior spec that was limited by a HDD, rather than an SSD.

Neither, if I were being honest.

If you're comfortable with a 14" screen and the lower resolution (1366 x 768 pixels which, in reality, I don't think a normal person would detect as different from a 14" 1920x1080 pixels), then this would be pretty good:

4415u processor has a benchmark of ~3200. I have a lenovo with a 4405u, which is slightly lower in power, but it's great. Combined with an SSD, it's as quick as you like for anything but your modern gaming (imo). That one also has USB C, is pretty light, and has up to 7 hours battery. If you can get £40 off that, it'd be near £260. Bargain. It's £50 less again for one with a 1TB HDD, which has a remarkable effect on speed (in a bad way). If you were techie enough, you could put the difference towards a 128GB SSD (roughly £40), clone the HDD onto it, then you'd be £10 better off and would still have a spare 1TB HDD. It looks like these have a dummy drive, so you could do what I've done a few weeks ago on an Ideapad and put in a HDD caddy (£10) where the dummy drive is, meaning you'd have a 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD on the same laptop for the same price (less your time for the fiddling, which is a couple of hours).

The one you posted (£349) does have a better performing processor (i3-7100u is around 3800 benchmark), but for an extra £30 (£379) on top of that, you could have a convertible laptop with a 1920x1080 touchscreen, plus fingerprint scanner, plus slightly better battery, but with the 4415U again:

As ever at this price point, it's about balancing what you want from a laptop and weighing this against shortcomings, features and cost.

Edit: looking at quidco, the £40 cashback is only on laptops over £399?

The HD screen does make a difference, what is more noticeable though is the quality of the screen. Being IPS the colours and viewing angles are noticeably better than a standard TN screen.

I haven't seen anymore deals on it, comparing this to my 7yrold laptop, it's a huge improvement. I will be using it for basic word processing, and some light browsing. Perfect size, weight, and battery, can't really ask for more at £240 ish. Also, I've not owned a laptop with ssd before, untill this one and my god does it boot up fast. I think id still be as happy had I paid £300 for it.

That's an amazing deal, great value.
Would this drive fit in as an extra drive? I have the 128gb version and not the 64 like in the film. I assume you can add an extra drive to the 128 version?

Much better screen on the Acer, not just the resolution but the quality also. It’s an IPS screen with 125% of RGB output. Colours look great.
I got one of these @ £299.99. Writing this on it now. Quality piece of kit. Would recommend.
It’s 400 quid now...
