4gb ram upgrade is around £19.99, and can swap out the Intel optane 16gb and put in a.m.2 SSD drive (swapping optane to ssd may void warranty, buy upgrading the ram does not), no ethernet but can buy a usb 3.0 to ethernet port under £15.00

I know the upgrades are cheap, but for me, I'd expect them included for this £.

I paid only £130 more and got 8GB RAM, 128 SSD + 1TB HDD and GTX 1060 3GB, brand new. (Reduced from £709 to £609 by AO due to the crap TN screen advertised by them as IPS.)
does feel pretty pricey for the base spec on offer

A friend bought an A1 refurb from laptopsdirect for £317 recently

I upgraded it for him by adding a 4gb 2400 sodimm for £20
warranty void sticker is over one of the screws needing to be removed to access ram slot so yes.. i think it will void warranty as there is a nasty void sticker mark on the base.

Please be aware user are experiencing great difficulties that changing the 16gb m.2 & 1tb HDD for a standard SSD due to some hidden configuration in the bios

No be just the 16gb m.2 not the HDD as well
Only think with refurbished from laptops direct they say it's A1 but some cases they ain't, luck really, plus only 3 months warranty, extra £30 to get 12 months extended warranty, same model on their is higher than £317 maybe he got the i3 model.

CPU might be a touch worse but that will be negated by the RAM & SSD. Good find.

Difference is 14 inch, intel i3 CPU, 4 GB more ram, only 128 SSD,

I looked at that but looked in pc world the gorilla glass reflects a lot of Shadows on the glass, also 72gb was already in the drive with a few Acer apps and windows 10, fine if you want a lower cpu and limited hd space unless you plan upgrading it

Thought it was a better deal than.laptopsdirect as i3 version same spec is £494

Wow, youre quick to dismiss..
Was definitely i5 8250u swift 3. Sf315-52 for £317
It's not on the site now because he bought it, and it was A1 as new
Full 12 months acer warranty once registered
They even have this which has and processer and dedicated gpu for 429 which is a great deal for the money
Swift 3 15.6in 8gb 256 sad A1 refurb £429
I personally have the SF314 52 DG , which is the 14in i5 8250u , 8gb 256 ssd model with mx150 gpu that I bought from the same site A1 as new for 499 last year.
Never had a problem with mine .

Sorry if your post didn't gain more heat but it's worth looking at laptops direct regularly because 3 weeks ago they had 3x SF315 52 at that price.

Just trying to be helpful bud

Just put me off buying a refurbished one seeing reviews on trust pilot, plus in description it clearly says 3 months warranty, additional 12 months is £29.99.

I've been looking for 2 months, from Dell, Dell outlet, laptops direct, save on laptop's, ao, Asus, hp, ebuyer (bought the hp 255 G7 issues with Realtek WiFi adapter sent back got refund), eBay, Curry's PC world online and in-store, Argos, CCL, scan, box.
I'm not bothered on it gaining heat, also how did he get a 12 month warranty from Acer, as buying a new one gives you 3 years

No worries mate 🏾

He contacted Acer and the laptop had already been registered but they changed it over to his name, address , etc but said it was only valid from 12 month manufacturers warranty from change of details date.

When I bought my refurb last year it hadn't been registered at all so i got the full manufacturers warranty.

I've bought refurb phones and laptops from laptopsdirect for years and never had a bad experience. 🏾
1tb with i5 CPU appealed to me plus upgrading ram and the optane to a ssd later on seemed better choice for me,
