Nice looking machine with a 1080p IPS screen and an adequate GPU for a little gaming. It's obviously not a full on beefy gaming laptop but not everyone is looking for one It's pretty capable though, you can check out benchmarks on YT to get an idea

Loads of laptop offer recently, so I thought I'd throw this one out there. Some people mentioning they're after something a little smaller, others wanting an IPS screen / Full HD and what not. So here's something to add to the mix

It's a gaming laptop it's a laptop that can play games.

That MX150 plays Witcher 3 among other demanding at high res with a little detail loss its obviously not as good as some others but for a low power Nvidia chip it's actually got a lot of muscle and can do high res with a loss of a bit of detail.

That MX150 chip is ok for entry/occasional gaming if you can't run to £1000 for a 1060.

It's obviously not a backlit RGB keyboard with adjustable fans, styling etc but it's still a gaming laptop

If I need another laptop now, I would buy it in a heartbeat!
Looks nice, I need to find some reviews, thanks!
Wow looks good
Good find
Hot deal.
Really good - I was considering buying this for £650 from Currys but it was out of stock. The MX150 is a very good upgrade from the 940MX previous gen mobile graphics cards - for anyone wanting to do a bit of light gaming. The Swift 3 is well reviewed, and probably the best value device at this pricepoint.
Such a shame they stick glossy screens on these. Some nice specs in this range if your not worried about that.
Think its got a slot for another harddrive folks?

That review mainly seems to be about the i7 8th gen, however also seems to be compare it in some of the specs to the OP laptop (7th gen i5 and unsurprisingly it doesn’t fair well) Mmmm choices would I rather have an 8th gen chip or a mx150 and a 7th gen.

14" screen...... is this a tablet?

I'm looking for a new Laptop, with light gaming like this, but need 17.3" screen ideally.. any recommendations?

It's too big for a tablet. Tablets are only 8". It's actually a little big for a laptop.

Superb laptop, great spec (particularly with the MX150) and terrific price. Most well rounded laptop I've seen on here for a while.

HOT.

Looking at reviews suggests the screen is matte.

Correct, this seems closer in spec but has the Intel 620 integrated graphics card. I suppose the best thing is to read both reviews and try to amalgamate what they say to form a review.

The review I have linked suggests not. Or if it has, getting at it isn't something to be recommended:

"The lack of maintenance options speaks against the Swift 3. Unqualified users cannot open the casing without damaging the device. Thus, the fan cannot be cleaned and memory components cannot be replaced.
"

The other review posted above reinforces the inability to upgrade it with this:

Memory
8192 MB, LPDDR3, Dual-Channel, no slots, memory soldered onto the motherboard.

Whilst it doesn't rule out a change of hard drive, taken with the point above it is indicative of users being seriously discouraged by Acer from thinking about getting in the back and doing much in the way of upgrades.

Both the notebookcheck reviews state otherwise:

Acer Swift 3 SF314-52G-89SL
Display:14 inch 16:9, 1920 x 1080 pixel 157 PPI, AU Optronics B140HAN02.1, IPS, glossy: yes

Acer Swift 3 (i5-7200U, HD 620)
Display:14 inch 16:9, 1920 x 1080 pixel 157 PPI, Chi Mei CMN14C9, IPS, glossy: yes

BUT, if you are happy with the spec - and you'll need to be because you'll be living with what it is, it seems - then it's £250 less than Amazon is retailing them at currently so this is the deal for you.

Not being able to clean the fan makes this a no for me Thanks for pointing out!

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. It's slightly awkward to open but I wouldn't say its overly difficult if you get a couple of plastic spludger tools:

Decent review by "Which" who call it an ultra-book.
77% when priced at £700.00. ( Top score 94% for £1200.00 Dell )
Summary = An excellent laptop with lacklustre sound that costs
a lot less than other best buys with similar specs.
Great price, paid £250 more for my HP Envy with same specs.
Good price but the screen is absolutely tragic

Good price but the screen is absolutely tragic

It looks from reviews its quite dim, but at least is IPS and 1080p!
I've been tempted by this Swift 3. Looks like curry's have reduced their price too, with an additional £50 off with the trade in of a suitable laptop.

14 inch is ultra portable, if you want to carry around laptop a lot, these are perfect.
If weight is not an issue, are you not better off buying a gaming laptop with gtx1050(you can see a few posted here under £660)

Thanks for reply.

Not for carrying around frequently, so size and weight not important for me.

That one doesn't list the 150MX graphics card - which is pretty much the main selling point. Might be just missing in the spec list I guess.
Looks good but price gone up to £599.99?
