light &t hin, very good reviews on the web and the lowest price i could find for ULV core 2 duo model. Also slower su4100 & su3500 on the offer.
use code spring5 (currys) or easter5 (dixons) to get 5% off, also 3.5% quidco

I used one of these for a while and it was very quiet even with the CPU on 100% load.
I also tried a Packard Bell 15.6” CULV (similar to ACER Aspire Timeline 5810T) and it was ridiculously noisy even at idle which for such a low power laptop really surprised me especially as this Acer has similar components but in a smaller shell.
Definitely worth paying the extra for an Acer unless you are deaf, live near Heathrow or like ear plugs.

They often have this model in at this price and they don’t stay in stock that long; only 2 left as I type this.

Seems like good price! glad I didn't get that 399 quid advent now.

There are so many of these though. The point of such lower powered laptops, are its battery and portability.

14inch is stretching it, while at 15 inches, normal laptop comes cheaper at better spec, the trade off is the battery though. Still with so many deals, couldn't help but think the next gen CPU based CULV is coming soon.

There was a recent report suggesting that the 32nm CULV chips have had their launch delayed due to disappointing sales of the CULV platform which does suggest that there will be discounts on the current systems as there is likely an over supply.

Yes the price it's the same but It's much slower core solo su3500 processor it will struggle to play hd videos... weak and slow but if you do some basic stuff yes it will do the job

Is there any general view on Curry's refurb'd laptops ? Are they returns, faulty, or just being remaindered and knocked out cheap ?

I'm just wondering which one will be better- that one or su4100 version + ATI 4330?

how much is the 4100 one?

according to the notebookcheck.net/Mob…tml su9400 got 161 place while su4100 is on 180 position out of 355 tested... so it seems that both processors are very simillar.
ati got 5000 points in 3Dmark 05 while 4500hd scores only 1231 notebookcheck.net/Int…tml. Basicly ati 4330 enables this laptop to play games and it's much more important than a bit faster processor. I was thinking about playing some games on it but now i am thinking about cancelling my order... maybe i should wait for 4330 wersion to drop in the price-now it's around 520 quid

I’ve bought 4 refurbished laptops from Currys in the last year. The visual condition on all of them was mint or very close to that but two of them had serious issues out of the box that made them inoperable, another one had a very loud fan that may have been a fault and the other one was fine. The only good one was a Dell and the others were Acer and Packard Bell.
Either I was particularly unlucky or these just aren’t tested properly before being sold.
At least they collect them from you if you return them so you aren’t out of pocket and get a full refund.
