More powerful than a netbook, but not as big as a notebook, very slim, light, silent and it does have a dvd drive, plenty of ram, chuck windows 7 on it ands you should be laughing , all the reviews ive read state very very very good battery life, with the only downsides being not exactly fantastic viewing angles on the screen but not pi$$ poor either, and the speakers aint upto much whichgoes for pretty much all laptops, should also have bluetooth, only model i can find on acer website states bluetooth, but you never know, will apparently handle 720p video flawlessy (not 1080p though) , even thinkging of getting one myself now lol

P.S. dont forget 12month warranty as well!!

I have had bad experiences with refurbs from Currys. They all have somw fault, mostly hidden and you will only find when you have used it for a while. They are selling customer returns and I dont think they bother checking them over, they let you do it instead. When you found the fault, they will collect the notebook and return it unrepaired. This goes on until you ask for a refund. Not a good idea to buy from them.

£40 extra with Windows 7: currys.co.uk/mar…id=

I must admit I'm tempted. my only criticism of my current (Gateway) laptop is the disappointing battery life. This would save me carting a power supply around at work - just leave it at my desk and plug it in whenever I'm there. Also my daughter is hassling me to buy a new laptop so she can have the old one:roll:

You'll be able to get the Win7 upgrade for ~ £12 for the one that comes with Vista. I went for the one with the SU9400 listed on HDUK a couple of weeks back (a better option than the SU3500). I ordered up the Win7 upgrade, took a couple of weeks to arrive - but it's clean installed no problem. Very nice machine.

i understand about buying a refurb, and i do understand about currys / comet / dixons / pcworld etc etc, and normally would stay well away but it is a good price for a machines thats got some good reviews.

its gonna be formatted the moment i get it, with windows 7 installed, then i`ll leave it running a burn-in prog for a while to srtess it, plus i`m practically a repair engineer also so will give it a good checking over.

A Toshiba we bought refurb from DSGi which was cheap is still going strong today (although think the ram i put in need replacing) which i bought 3 years ago and even runs windows 7 flawlessly!

exactly, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dont. If you get a problem with something can always go above DSGi and go straight to manufacturer, but is only an option for some things.

Sorry but those prices are not including VAT, with vat and delivery = £344.98 minus 4% quidco = £331.19 so my price still cheaper! lol
