This has been £249 recently - I actually can't remember where, maybe laptopsdirect or somewhere like that - but I know this exact machine has been £50 less. I've spent weeks looking for a cheap laptop for a family member so I've done the rounds with sub £300 laptops.

Refurb @ LD for £50 less. Supposedly in A1 condition. A fella on a previous thread on here said he'd bought a couple of them. But again, failed to return to either praise or lambaste them. We're none the wiser as to whether the "A1" description was accurate..
The only downside with Laptops Direct is warranty is only 3 months. I suppose if you value brand new with 1 yr warranty at £50 more then this deal is for you.

In the end I went with the Lenovo in Argos for £200. I’ll manually change windows S to windows 10 and perhaps upgrade the RAM (although no idea if it’s soldered) - it was far and away the best value I found.

if you need Microsoft Office then there’s a scorching deal over at Very for a Lenovo 330s with office at £400, or there’s a ryzen machine at ebuyer for £350 (ebuyer.com/901659)

Better screen and better battery life and it'd be sweet.

It was definitely new the one I found, might’ve been saveonlaptops - I cleared internet history a couple of days ago so I can’t remember where! Sorry!!!

Yep - it’s for my uncle who couldn’t care less what OS he’s running.
