Cracking price! Anyone comfirm it has DVI, as thats a deal breaker maker imo.

Argos says no, Acer site says "VGA or DVI (HDCP compliant)". Which is it, or mebbe theres two versions?

It looks like the issue here is model numbers. The X223W does have the additional DVI whilst the X223HQb (which I think this actually is) only has VGA.
Now, if Argos are selling this as a X223W then they are (IMO) making a false statement. They do allude to no DVI in the actual description "* Analogue input." and they also state the model number as X223HQb but calling an item one thing and selling another is incompetent at the very least (again, IMO before the lawyers swoop).

I think you could be right. (not very clever Argos!).. Thanks for taking the time to post, repped you.

Only 1 connector VGA. Still, it is a cracking monitor for general use and the price is pretty good. Picked one up Saturday. Noticed that it was manufactured in Oct 07.

Nonetheless Heat.

10 of my closest stores are out of stock - NW london area

Lack of DVI ot HDMI is a deal breaker, I wonder if they will add a gramophone record slot to the next version?

£99 for a 22" monitor! Heat that man!

Hot! £99 for a monitor which is Full HD and 22"!

EDIT: Actually isn't full HD its 1680x1050

with a VGA output not HD... almost makes it useless.

What are you on about? It's quite possible to get 1920x1080 via D-SUB.

On the Argos page the headline says

> Acer X223W 22in Widescreen TFT

But a little further down it says

>Model number X223HQb

My guess is it the X223HQb which is 1920x1080

Out of stock all round South Birmingham as well.

Great when they offer a good price for something but have none in stock. I suppose if you have none in stock you can offer as low a price as you like.
.

cannot find any in stock

Details should be amended to show that it's 1680x1050 resolution.

You CAN get full HD 1920 x 1080 through VGA!

Does anyone know for sure which model this is as there's quite a difference between the two that they have listed on their website.

This is the product on Acers website:
]http//ww…725

On acers website it says that it has both DVI and VGA and the max res it 1680x1050 on the argos website it says is only has analogue input and is 1980x1050. Either way it's still a good price for a 22" but It's still bugging me which model it is.

not great for gaming , but for general use ... great value - heat

Why is it no good for gaming? that would be a dealbreaker for me as I would use it for gaming quite a lot.

makes no difference what model number it is when there is no stock .

I reserved one an hour ago before realising that it's probably 1680x1050.

I've had an Acer X223W and a P223W set up side-by-side for a year or so now, so my X223W is a slightly different model to this (like ]this one) but has a single VGA port and nothing else. The manufacture date on mine is 2007/10/07 and the version is an X223W s, apparently.
And the max res on both is 1680x1050.

While great budget monitors, this seems false advertising to me. Don't be put off if you want a VGA 1680x1050 22" monitor, though, because they're good enough to satisfy most casual users.

Just to clear it up, this is most probably VGA only and 1680x1050.

Can anyone tell me for definite if this is 1080 or 1050??

Thanks

my guess is this is vga, thats why its cheap.

Anyone picked one up yet and can confirm model cheers

I have one reserved for Norwich castle mall branch up till close of play wednesday 26 august , have decided I dont want it , so if anyone in the area would like to buy it (last one apparently) the reserve code is: 007123

One of these left in Wakefield ridings if its any use to anyone

Ive decided to give it a miss so theres a reserve code for east kilbride mall if it's of any use to anyone.

still want to know for sure what resolution this is - anyone???

Looks like they have the specs mixed up and this is the 1680 x 1050 model,

Looks like argos have updated the website - to match the model mentioned in the specs -

Acer X223HQb 21.5in Widescreen TFT Monitor. 670/3507

ah thanks, so it is full hd

Just got back from argos.... the monitor isn't the isn't the one advertised. the monitor they have given me is a X221w which is 1680x1050 and has only one VGA slot. I'm going to check out the image quality and if it's crap I'm taking it back.

Does it have a dvi input? Cheers

No DVI, just one single VGA. I'm using a DVI to VGA adapter and the image is clear and crisp. For 99 quid it's alright, I'd have preferred the one originally advertised but the image looks just as good if not a little brighter than the 22" DVI monitor I have beside it so I'll probably hang on to it.

So, Argos are advertising a 1920x1080 monitor and selling a 1680x1050 one ?

Yes, it seems the resolution is incorrect on the website. My sister collected one of these monitors from Argos yesterday and it is VGA only and NOT full HD.

Regardless of this, she is very happy with the display.

Incidentally, if anyone is after the full HD model, Pixmania are selling this VGA only model for less than £110 delivered:

ACER X223HQB

If you factor in quidco of 3%, it is only a tad more expensive than the Argos model and it is delivered to your door.
