Cracking piece of kit for an unbelievable price! oO

TN panels don't have the best viewing angles though..

acer, steer clear

But there's no IPS alternatives to this unless you want to splash out £660 for the Acer Predator XB270HU.

No panel is perfect. IPS suffers from IPS glow, VA suffers from input lag/slow response times.

Apart from the basic stand, restrictive viewing angles and gamma shift due to TN, everything else about this monitor is stellar.

I have a GTX 970 so is this monitor still worth getting since FreeSync won't work? (If I'm not mistaken). Here's a review of this monitor if anyone is curious btw.

Damn, and I just ordered a BenQ w2765ht from Amazon and arriving tomorrow.......

Good price, shame it doesn't have a vesa mount.

There's the Asus MG279Q (which is freesync) and the Asus PG279Q (which is G-sync). Both are IPS.

But yeah the point of the deal is that it's £269 for 144hz 1440p which is an entry into affordable territory. IPS panels are all at the very least £150 more.

Hate that nonsense!! Make sure you sit in the correct place??

Exactly, who sits at a monitor at an angle?!?!! It's not a TV

To be fair viewing angle can be an issue if you use multiple screens.

That's true.

Stunning price.

Shame you can't use freesync with nvidia cards. Wish they would sort this out, but it's not in nvidia's interest because they have gsync.

It's not nonsense, especially on a large monitor, you sit in front of the middle of the screen, gamma shift will be visible both horizontally and vertically on the margins. Only people that never used a computer for anything else than games didn't notice this before on TN panels.

Look like a nice spec for the price. Not keen on those red flourishes, though I suppose they add a little character.

I am so, so tempted by this. I presume I'll see quite a bit of a difference between this and my BenQ GL2450HM?

An absolute steal at £270. A shame I have the BENQ 144hz 1080p offering so can't justify getting this..! But that's the price you will pay for some 144hz 1080p screens..

Gets a good write up at TFTCentral based on a price of around £400+ : tftcentral.co.uk/rev…htm

Should be a dramatic improvement, it ticks all the boxes for an upgrade:
- Bigger surface area (26%)
- Much higher resolution. 1440p is a massive improvement over 1080p with around 75% more pixels.
- Funky refresh rate

What GPU are you using at the moment?

So this is not much good with a Nvidia card if you want to make the most of freesync right?

You won't be able to use FreeSync with an Nvidia card, no. There's nothing actually stopping Nvidia supporting it, but they choose not to in order to push G-Sync (since that makes them money).

I'm using an ATI card - a HIS R9 280X iPower IceQ X² 3GB to be more precise.

agreed crazy price. i paid £650 for the rog swift on release which is basically the same spec save for gsync.

Would I be better to wait for a good 4k monitor to reach this price or get this now?

Depends if you can wait a few years or not...

I have a 670 - will I be able to play most games on high ultra settings?

Maybe if the monitor is like 40"... Not on smth like this. It's only 27".

Still worth it with an Nvidia GPU? I know I won't be able to use FreeSync, but 2560x1440 144Hz for this price is tempting regardless..

Will this be any good for consoles?

No, Amy demanding games would require you to reduce strings film high to medium. Depends what frame rate you want to get.

No, completely wasted as consoles will not use the higher resolution or hz. Your better looking at a cheap 27" 1080p screen

Just went for it and purchased. Refresh rate, resolution and FreeSync were the deciding factors. Very excited to test it out tomorrow X)

You will struggle at 1440p as the 670 is getting on a bit and only has 2gb VRAM.
The monitor supports 1080p though so you could drop the resolution when required. Start saving for a new GPU

I thought so, TFTCentral had a good review, so I bought one. If it doesn't meet my expectations, I will send it back.
