The button cell will be for the remote, the main unit will be mains powered.

I guessed the button cell will be for the remote. On the Argos/Ebay page I can't see anything about it being mains powered / or possibly re-chargeable battery. (Unless I am going blind !!!)

Brilliant price! I was actually going to get one of the same tower speakers that I got my teenage son for Christmas because it was amazing for the £60 price tag... but my son looked utterly horrified when I said to him lol

Thanks for posting this. Order placed, at least 40 quid saved for me and my son doesn't have to worry about me cramping his style lol
Can you connect this to your TV and use as TV speaker ?

Also curious as to would John Lewis price match this with longer warranty ??

It says aux in so if your tv has a Jack for sound out it should work but not through hdmi like a soundbar would.
For £20 quid it's a nice Bluetooth speaker, better than similarly priced portable ones. I'm reasonably happy with it although I absolutely don't need it.

I connected mine to my Android TV box and listened to a bit of music on Youtube which was fine but it's a bit odd having the TV sound come out of one speaker, I think you'd be better off with stereo speakers or a cheap soundbar.
Received this today sound quality amazing and very loud good for parties 😄

So how was the overall clarity and bass of this tower setup? Would you say it's any better than a standard bluetooth speaker?

Yea, I use mine as a speaker for the Firestick and it works great!
Got my hands on one today and I must say for £20 the sound is better than expected. Clarity is very good even on flat settings. Bass is better than any of my existing Bluetooth speakers due to the larger box size. No dropouts on Bluetooth and good audio range was present on both music tracks on my phone and spotify. My only gripe is the FM radio is not that sensitive and noise / minor distortion was apparent on all but very strong signal stations. The remote control is a nice feature for the price. It does all the basic controls. A Jack plug and stereo Phono inputs allow other devices to be connected such as a mini CD player.

Verdict - All in all I don't think you'll get a better Bluetooth sounding speaker in this price range. £20 is a steal.

Is your TV smart ?
Just got. £20 for this massive speaker, good quality....is very good!

Is your TV smart ?

Nah far from it, last week I caught it making toast with a hairdryer

Its an old samsung C530 with no smart features of any sort, thats why i bought a firestick for it. [The TV is on the far wall in the bedroom, rather than have sound coming across the room we placed this speaker next to the bed, volume doesnt need to be as loud which suits my needs perfectly! (The firestick connects to this speaker by bluetooth ;-)))]
Spec. needs to be amended. The instruction manual has limited spec. Just output is 12+12+25 watts RMS. So I presume 12watts to the midrange/tweeters and 25 watts to the bass. The ports measure 2.5 inches x2 and 3.5 inches x 1. That indicates the speaker driver cones could be just 2 inch and 3 inch units. I am unsure whether the power and bass would be any good from such small speakers but have not used my tower yet. There is only one photo available so what could be confused as a speaker cone just below the digital display panel, is actually the units control panel.

I was also sceptical about this tower however your not be disappointed for £20. Bass is actually very good for the size and volume levels were surprisingly loud with minimal distortion. I don't think there's anything out there that could touch this speaker within this price bracket. It's all down to size and whether you want a smaller portable speaker or a better sounding static setup.
Could two of these be linked for stereo sound?
Ordered one but been delivered and signed for unknown person. Parcelforce could not tell where it's been delivered. Argos refunded money. Ordered once again as need it for my friend.

Only thing is antenna for FM radio. Couldn't catch any radio yet.
Any good for TVs anyone?
