Yeah but the RRP was as how the title says

Looks like it’s rechargeable too which’s a bonus.

I gave it heat. But it's expectation management, isn't it? You think it's a £40 saving, and that makes the actual saving of £5 less impressive.

An unfair example. There’s very few DAB+ stations currently on air and DAB will be around for a good while yet.

It depends how much you think it’s worth. For £19.99 with a rechargeable battery it’s a Billy Bargain!

DAB and FM is a minimum, most people aren't even aware of DAB+

It's not unfair at all. DAB literally uses an antiquated codec which predates MP3. DAB+ has been around for over a decade. Most countries use DAB+. Those that lag behind like UK will eventually commit to DAB+ too and discontinue DAB.

How long is eventually? My bet is you will get a good few years out of a DAB radio in this country

What is the alternative you would recommend for £20???

The point was about expectation management though ... Getting £5 off feels more like Billy Bargain, if someone hasn't first given the impression it's £40.

A lot of stations have stopped airing on DAB and have switched to DAB+

On my DAB radio there are hardly any stations.

I used to listen to Planet Rock until it went DAB+ then I got into Radio 4 Extra.

These are all good:
The Cold Swedish Winter.
Old Harrys Game.
Ed Reardon's Week.
Paradise - Lost in Space.

Planet Rock is not on Dab+. From what I gather, theres a couple of low usage stations there to test it, ones not missed. The problem for Dab+ is that with streaming, people will not upgrade their sets if channels go astray. So Dab+ might never arrive for main radio stations.

Price is OK for this, though obviously it was never worth £70

Worth having DAB+ just for 'Union Jack' alone...... Excellent radio station.
There's also three other national DAB+ stations that have been going for over a year now. More + stations are bound to be rolled out.

Seems Union Jack broadcasts at 24 kbps. I guess Absolute Radio are making use of 'debris space' to get 1 more channel into the mux. At least it carries on the Dab tradition of quantity, not quality,

Please folks save your money I've returned one of these. They have a really poor reception and I live in an area of great DAB reception. The sound is good but the short antenna or poor tuner is to blame as it only picked up 18 stations whereas in my area I always pick up over 55. Even strong stations like Radio 2 kept breaking up and trust me it wasn't faulty it's ' just crap

DAB+ is already in the UK

Picked mine up this evening - reception is terrible, struggles to hold onto 6Music in the same location where other DAB radios have no problems.

Will be returning it tomorrow.

Thanks to all who replied with their experiences.
I have noticed at times the price and reception dont add up.

Planet rock is on DAB+, a year ago they telling everyone to switch to DAB+ because they wouldn't be on DAB anymore.

When it changed over, for a while there was an automated repeated message, I think that has stopped now.

It wasn't just Planet Rock that changed over, if you have DAB the airwaves are pretty much empty.

DAB+ has been in the UK for over a year now, maybe longer.

I used to like Alice Cooper around 10pm but now he's on at 4am.

I did get sick of the same old ads. every 15 minutes.

I'm more into Prog. Rock. Pendragon and Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson.
Look on youtube, it'll change your taste in music forever.

Some great Comedy on BBC Extra.

Just heard season 12 of Ed Reardon's Week is on soon.

Planet Rock, like other DAB stations inc Absolute 80's, didn't move to DAB+..... they just moved to the D2 mux. My non DAB+ radios still gets these stations fine.
The problem is that many people are not in the reception area for D2, about 20% of uk coverage are out of reception. It means having to wait until more transmitters get built or use internet radio for these stations. How strong the receiver is in your dab radio will also make a difference whether you receive these stations or not.
The 4 national DAB+ stations we currently have are also on this D2 mux.

I respectfully disagree. Radios tend to be an item which are not replaced for a long time (years, decades even). Stations are already transitioning from DAB to DAB+ (Jack FM Surrey and Radio Newark to name two examples) and the only way I can listen to Jazz FM here free-to-air without data caps is via DAB+. DAB+ will only grow. Better to future proof your purchase than to pay twice.

Best tell where your 'here' is.

It looks a very very very minor 'here'.
