Lol... fake reviews.
For £20 more get the Yi Discovery. A far better quality action camera than the cheap rubbish like this.
Just been looking around at Head Cams and on the Official Tomtom site the Bandit is now £129 down from £170 ish. I know it's far dearer than the Ops post. A decent Bullet shaped one though.

The discovery is basically the Yi Lite repackaged and called the Discovery with the price lowered, it has a different chipset than the Yi lite from what I have read but the specs are identical
I posted an amazon deal ..lucky the mods picked a fake. Shame Amazon are like eBay with these rr
As a rule of thumb that I go by, any product that uses New Times Roman font style on all their screenshots should be considered junk or at the least, of low quality. I am fairly sure that these no name Chinese sellers stick to that font, presumably the thousands of other fonts cause confusion as they look slightly different. I'm not being racist here but there seems a correllation here, cheap junk usually has New Times Roman style fonts used.

Hadn't come across this either. A good looking camera. 4k at 20fps isn't great, but none of the budget cams have decent 4k anyway. Touch screen is a nice touch and the reviews are good.

Wondering why it's so low profile? Not many reviews and not well known, seems unusual for a yi product.

Also one thing to note for any prospective buyers, it doesn't look like any accessories come with the Yi, unlike the cam from OP. So if you want to clip it on or bring it underwater, you need to budget to buy those accessories.

I've been waiting for the Yi Lite to drop in price, as it's currently £99

Does the different chipset make a difference? The Amazon page doesn't have as much technical information for the Discovery

Not that I've read , just seems to be a chipset suited to the resolution / FPS of what yi want to achieve with this particular model. Also from a manufacturing point this chipset brings the cost down.

The discovery is currently about £45 on Amazon and for that price you can't go wrong

Are the Yi Lite accessories compatible with the Discovery? Specifically the waterproof case

From what I've read yes. It seems Yi like to keep the accessories compatible between most / all of their action cams.

The waterproof case fits the yi lite / yi 4k and the yi 4k plus so no reason at all why it wouldn't fit the discovery as the main body of the discovery is identical to the yi lite (apart from the micro SD slot and micro usb slot are in a different place but that doesn't come in to play in the waterproof case, just the record button.

I'll keep my eye on it, if the Yi Lite was to hit £60 (including waterproof case) then I was going to bite the bullet

Thanks for your comments

Wouldn't be so sure.

I thought the discovery looked quite good, but then watched a few reviews on YouTube. It's nothing like the other yi models, both internally and externally. Its a different shape, has a different size lens, has all cable ports etc on the opposite side to all other yi models, doesn't have the fitting in the bottom of the cam to attach to accessories, the pic quality is poor (comparative to all other yi models), etc.

It's probably a decent buy for the price, but don't buy the discovery expecting similar results to Yi Lite or others from the Yi range. It looks very much like a generic cam rebadged, as it follows none of the standard design features that are common across the rest of the Yi action camera range.

Dimensions are identical to yi lite and record button is in the same place so will fit in waterproof case.

As for video sample quality I can't say I've noticed a great deal of difference between discovery and lite on the vids I've seen other than maybe a tad more grain in lower light shots (although supposedly the discovery sensor is better at low light video but that doesn't seem to translate in real world footage.

Either way the yi discovery would certainly be a better quality quality wise compared to the ten a penny cheaper Chinese ones but if your budget can stretch to it then go for a Yi Lite or better yet a Mijia 4k (also from Xiaomi) as that supports 4k 30fps and 2.5k 60fps
Hmm check out this YouTube review, this put me off the idea. Of course, the guy who reviewed may just be wrong.
