I posted this a while ago but it was only available for desktop macs. Now it’s now on iOS.
Worth a try as it is free just now.

Say goodbye to:
• ads and banners
• autoplay videos
• fake "x" buttons
• scrolling banners
• timed popups
• redirects to "xxx" websites

• collection of your data online

Enjoy better Safari:
• on average 2x faster web browsing
• on average 50% lower data usage
• improved battery life

Extra features:
• sync settings between your devices with iCloud
• built-in button in Safari for quick changes
• hide obtrusive "Allow Cookies" prompts
• hide comment sections on popular websites
• block adult content (make browsing safe for kids)

I used AdBlock for many years but I now prefer the FREE uBlock ORIGIN available for all the main browsers.
It's very good at blocking adverts and light on CPU usage.

I would not dream of browsing the Internet withut an ad-blocker.
If any company does not like you blocking their adverts - they will let you know.
1 They give you a warning on the screen.
2 The page you want will not open / work.

ME - I object to my PC being swamped by pop ups, videos, sound and various distractions (and even viruses or scams).
Unwanted adverts that are taking up my broadband my PC resources and MY TIME.
On some mobile phone plans you even pay to see those adverts - so much per Megabyte downloaded.

But I make a point of allowing adverts on sites that are well behaved and just put adverts around the main screens.
I realise that they are free because the adverts pay for their costs (and hopefully make them a profit).
So don't just block ALL averts one every single web site.

Just remember the newspaper needs the ad revenue, without it, we'll not get "free" contents to consume.

Anyway of stopping ads in games?

Yes play on mobile data and prevent the game from using it (only annoyance you have to stop Wi-Fi but a small price to pay )

Awesome!!

why?

It just is

Don't get me wrong, I know most of these content blockers on iOS do largely the same thing but i've tried most of them and I always go back to AdGuard.

It's one of the few Apps that it's worth paying for the premium version.
Or you can just open a ‘private window’ in Safari?

Yes you can use an Adblocking VPN service or create one.

In what way is it better? Curious

I purchased the original AdGuard, they then decided to release it as “AdGuard pro” and charge everyone to update”

I don’t know if they ever went back on that.

I downloaded AdGuard and the upgrade option to “Pro” was entirely voluntary.

It does the trick for blocking ads in games as well.
Between this and Lockdown Apps. I find very effective. At stopping ads and also on a few times allowed me passed queuing feature on sites with high traffic.
It’s mad to think on a PC ad blockers are free but on mobile you have to pay £10!?
Did you know you are breaking the law by using these apps to block adds........

I would think of it being more of a case of breaking T&Cs on the Play/App Store, you are using, rather than the law.

Love adguard, use it on the PC too, but not as powerful as some you can get for blocking within apps. I like the feature in Adguard, where you can monitor what is being blocked, and what is getting through.
A must for parents can web filter too.
great app

More control over blocking, more filters and other tweaks you can use. The free version is fine for what it is, but the extra stuff for premium is the icing on the cake.

The reason it blocks ads in games is that it creates a local VPN on your phone so it funnels everything through that.
can they revert from premium to free at any point once youre hooked?

They wouldn't do that. Nobody would do that as it would be pointless.
I was hoping that this would actually, rather than promise to, block cookie prompts. Just as many prompts as before. It does seem to deal with the annoying ads.
I understand this is free now but would they/can they start charging in the future once we are used to this?

No.

If you download an app for free that is usually a paid app, they can't then decide to take money off you for it.
Check out the last reviews for this - not good. Too many negative reviews for me.
