Not sure if this will light anyone's fire but these scents are actually pretty good! Boyf wears Addiction Gold as an everyday scent (originally got it from Poundshop.com as a bit of a novelty throwaway, as it's a knockoff of Paco Rabanne's 1 Million) and he wanted another bottle!

Decent reviews on Amazon but alas, not very informative. This was from the Union Street, Glasgow store, but I'm sure it will be National.

Addiction Rio smells good too but not sure if that's a dupe as well?

Addiction Gold Mens EDT 50ml. A warm and sensual fragrance blending beautiful freshness of mandarin with warmth of nutmeg & cardamom and the sensuality of amber & woody notes. An absolute "gold" standard.

Addiction Rio Mens EDT 50ml. An opulent latin composition of woody and aromatic scents, this fragrance opens with notes of citrus ,cool and fresh essence of lavender, pink pepper enhanced with a slightly floral scent of orange flower and enriched with woody accords of patchouli, cedar wood and amber.

Addiction Classic Mens EDT 50ml. A seductive synergy of aromatic notes of white pepper and armoise embodied with birch leaf, magnetic sequoia wood and passionate hot amber, sits on a bed of rich sandalwood and sensual patchouli oils.

There's also a blue-juice Addiction 50ml EDT variety for 95p but can't seem to find any info about that one on the internet - will update when I next visit Savers. (Edit - It's actually called Aquatonic, that's why I couldn't find it - wasn't keen on it anyway - but also 95p in Union St).

One review of Addiction (by Conquest Personal Care, the manufacturers), assume it's the Classic (?) compares it to Nicole Farhi PH: basenotes.net/fra…989

"The similarity between this and Nicole Farhi PH (Pour Homme) is startling. A very woody, crisp and clean scent that despite being a 'drugstore cheapie' has a smell which defies it's inexpensive pricetag. Longevity isn't the best which is to be expected considering it's mainly sold as a bodyspray; however it is available as an EDT too if you search hard enough. Thumbs up. Definitely worth a try."

I am a fan of Savers but hate everything made by Conquest. Everything they make smells of aniseed and petroleum /kerosene. I have seen lots of their products in pound shops as well. Unless they drop aniseed and petroleum smell from their products, I am not going to buy them however cheap they are.

I.was completely puzzled by your comment until I realised you meant "Chanel No5". Witticisms work best if you spell them properly :-D

Urgh, I've made a boo-boo. Turns out I visited this store (and Trongate, Glasgow) on the way to Maplin (10p stand/chargers!) and the Trongate store is still £1 - Union Street is 95p. Must be store-specific.

Sorry all

How long does the Gold last on boyf?

He's away to bed, I'll ask him in the morning (I'm the insomniac :p)

He says he sprayed it at 9.30am and the scent is still lingering.

Not sure about the kerosene and aniseed comment, but it could be a skin chemistry thing? Maybe a squirt in store might be required before purchase, though it's hardly breaking the bank!

Here Louise, about the skin chemistry thing. I've noticed people say things like that and 'X only lasts so many hours on my skin'. But when I've put a scent on a card, sometimes they have lasted days. So if skin can knock a scent so badly why not apply it to say a shirt collar where it can persist and perform better and longer? But people still put them on their skin. (Only new to fragrances so a nooobie question).

About the price maybe that poster, like me, is more concerned about the time and cost of going into town just to get these.

There's definitely something in skin chemistry. Paul is a midgie magnet (up in the Highlands) and he insists nothing works (not even the cheapie remedy Avon's Skin So Soft which has Citronella in it).

I'm just as happy to spray on a £1 scent as a Chanel. My favourite ever Chanel, Allure Sensuelle, I have in parfum and EDP form, I breathe it in like it's an angel's breath for a few hours but it just doesn't seem to "stick" to my skin at all. Completely gone after an hour or two Many other Chanels linger all day long.

-they are real btw, I have thrown the book at a few counterfeit perfume sellers!

So why not apply to clothing?
