I picked one of these up for my younger brother to use for college, they were £300 when I got one, but I borrowed a 10% discount card so don't feel too bad that the price has fallen by £20.

Whilst these obviously won't suit everyone, I think they are an idea choice for students on a budget, who are looking for something portable and lightweight.

I set this up for my brother and I was pleased with it's performance when instaling applications and under normal everyday use. The processor, whilst seeming a bit more power hungry than those in many netbooks, offers a decent level of performance, even on applications such as photoshop.

I don't expect this to be a scorcher, but after the small price drop I thought it was worth sharing as it seems to offer a bit more than most netbooks/sublaptops of around the same price.

Oops, whilst trying to reply I accidentally reported your comment. Sorry!

This won't be very good for FM. The processor is super super weak so it would be really slow even with one league selected. Additionally there are no discrete graphics so you probably won't be able to use the 3D match engine.

This is an entry level touchscreen laptop. The battery and processor are very weak and the hard drive is substandard. Still, it's cheap so if you just need something for web browsing and MS office (providing you buy it seperately) and really want a touchscreen, then this is a good buy.

Hi DanielF
This is a strictly college work machine for my brother, so I have no idea of it's performance on games. I would expect that it wouldn't be any good on all but the simplest of games though.

Thanks guys give it a miss. if you do know any decent laptops let me know. he needs one to play basic games etc. Whilst also for college.

Depends what you really want. you sould get something around this price which can play basic games if you are happy with a 15 inch laptop. Bear in mind that basic games is probably the limit though. If you really want something ultraportable and games worthy then you really have to pay out for it. as you are probably already aware.

That said, this little machine has surprised me, yes the battery is weak, but is seems a hell of a lot faster, day to day, than any Atom netbook I've seen

Celeron's aren't the worst to be honest. Far, far from the best, but it's fast for an Atom I think. It's such a shame they coupled this with such an awful battery because this could have had the battery life of a tablet otherwise, like 8-9 hours or so.

I'd be looking for an i3 if I were you. If he just wants to play the basics and FM an i3 without discrete graphics should fit the bill nicely.

Wait, wait, WAIT...
