I may have read your post in the wrong way, they are the same piece of equipment but different brands.

Signalex being super budget and advent being a better, but still budget brand.

this really is not a deal, they have sold cheap branded bluetooth adapters at this price for the past 5 years at all stores. people seem to constantly post as if they have discovered something amazing.

Had normal cheap one for three years no problems connecting to a few devices.

These are branded Advent and come complete with an installation cd. Bought one today after buying 2 different ones for a lot more money that wouldn't work. Plugged it in and am now listening to my tunes from a bluetooth speaker 10 metres away in the garden with a glass of wine!!

Didn't need the cd, running Blue Soleil.

Plenty in Cardiff today. So pleased with it, may get a spare tomorrow. Well for a quid you can't go wrong!!

The trouble with these adapters they all look the same a tiny half-moon of black plastic. The actual insides varies wildly unfortunately -some are rubbish and some are insanely great.

Will this work with an iMac?

Are the insanely great insanely expensive? I don't mind paying a bit extra if it's worth it but seems wasteful otherwise.

For a solitary nicker though, it's hard to beat this for a known, if budget model. Hence a hot vote!

The dongle should but the software will be pc only so you would have to find the mac equivalent. (Probably should be built in, it is on windows).

This is a full size dongle, class 2, Bluetooth V 2.0 with EDR and works 'out of the box' on my pc. I have recently bought 2 others at a lot more money that refuse to connect to my external devices. This one does and has extended range. I own 6 different Bluetooth dongles accumulated over the years, nearly all branded. This device is the best of the lot........so far.

Anyone tried to connect a wiimote to it (BlueSoleil)?

Just wondering whether it is the right chipset. My lappie's internal one is poo.

None in my area

It probably will, just plug it in and go to System Preferences> internet & wireless> bluetooth, turn it on, the click 'set up new device'. I use a similar PC bluetooth dongle on an old G5 tower and it's fine.

Got it today. Surprised that they had lots in stock still. Looks impressive in a nice packaging.

Got one today in Derby.

Windows 7, plugs, plays, works!

None in either of the two central Nottingham stores
Got the standard Signalex one instead, can't do anything with it!

Just thought I'd add this. The drivers supplied on the disc has compatibility issues with Windows 7 (Bluetooth stack), but you can get updated software and drivers from here:
aps2.toshiba-tro.de/blu…iba

The device itself, is just a rebranded Toshiba Bluetooth USB device.

Did not work untill I plugged the USB stick in the PCs rear motherboard USB connection.
