Advent VEGA - £207.50 Instore @ Dixons Duty Free (Heathrow)

Found 11th Apr 2011
This was cheaper a while ago but at the moment this is the cheapest I could find for a perfect portable tablet. This may help those who are flying from various airports listed on…now and want to get their hand on sub £350 tablet at the expense of 3G and GPS.

I have tried it for a while and feels very nice and responsive on stock firmware itself, god knows what modaco custom rom will make it.

Dixons Travel Deals

Include the price of a flight then - have to include postage on other deals and you cannot get this otherwise.
I bought it when it was £199.99 from Dixons.

After reading all the reviews I knew the screen viewing angles are an issue but I decided I could live with that. However, just after ordering, my local Currys got one in to try. I went in and had a play with it. I have to say, the viewing angles are even worse than I thought! I then tried it against a Samsung Galaxy Tab. The screen on the Tab made the Vega look washed out. Comparing the two was the decider for me. When I received it, I ended up taking the Vega back (Currys accept Dixons returns and refund you instore too).

I didn't buy a Tab though. I've decided to wait for more Honeycomb tablets to come out and then look again. Honeycomb really does make a world of difference to tablets.
