My 11 month AEG washer nearly caught fire earlier this year and had the fire brigade out as it was smoking badly. Its a shame because Ive had other AEG appliances before and they've been fine. Maybe I got a duff one or maybe their quality has downgraded.
Why is this in the entertainment section?

Second time right... very much downgraded. The Service network "Serviceforce" is the worst feature though - getting up to totally hopeless would be a great improvement, it took 10 weeks to fix my heat pump Tumble drier!

Because the kids really enjoyed seeing the BIG red fire engine attend
I thought it might be because of its vibrating qualities.

They aren't, but this is still an excellent deal in my opinion.

Is anything as it once was these days?
Looks to me like a rebranded Beko for around £200.
Sadly after the Electrolux takeover they lost the robustness of the older machines. When mine failed after 17 years (Just couldn't get the part it needed) I decided to breathe in and buy a Miele. It had a minor mark on it so was just £410.
Used to be easy to get a decent branded appliance but so many are just badge engineered (Bit like cars really)
Heat - thanks OP. Purchased today. Looks like a superb machine. I have had great experiences over the years and more recently with AEG products. I think they're superbly built personally and one of the few brand that have never let me down

Not what they were, but still more like Bosch than Beko. I bought the 8000 washing maching and a matching fridge freezer. Both absolute cracking prodcuts.
My aeg failed after two years just after guarantee run out
Guys remember AEG are now owned by Electrolux. Same company who manufacture zanussi. So quality has gone down since that take over.
Looks a decent deal.

Thanks for this, looks like hotpoint/Indesit have started to improve. They really did go downhill after 2008/9 however they have picked up
