Too much current draw can permanently damage the cells of the battery thus reducing battery life. The Pro Lithium Ion current overload protection automatically shuts the battery down if the current levels get too high, but automatically resets its self so there is no loss of productivity.

3) Individual cell monitoring

Individual cell monitoring ensures every cell in the battery is performing to its maximum capability to ensure optimum productivity. The cell monitoring also runs throughout the charge process to make sure no cells are damaged at this time.

If you only use Makita you are not qualified to speak about other brands as you would never experience them.
Are these really (still) made in Germany? I looked at reviews of a smaller AEG drill last year and people were bemoaning transfer of production to: guess where. Maybe the more up-market ones are still built "at home", but I wouldn't just assume that.
If they are the 3.0A LiOn batteries then they are £100 each so worth it just for that alone.

Maybe the budget models (sub £200) might be manufactured elsewhere. but the top end ones are still high quality and im sure are still built in Germany.

This is by no means a home use drill, its powerful and reliable, which is why they sell it with longer lasting batteries and 2 of them.
Not many people at home will need 2 full 3.0ah batteries for a DIY job!

These are mega and super duty.

They are NOT to be confused with lesser home drills - these are professional!

Deal worth it just for the batteries alone.
I bought one from the big red toolbox. Just got an e-mail from them saying that the item's been lost by the courier and do I want a more expensive!!!! In reality much cheaper model only 1x 1.5A/H battery.
Anyone else got theirs that they ordered. It reeks of a scam.

Got mine today. It's the correct model, with 2 X 3.0ah batteries as described.
It's great, also comes with 3 years warranty!
Made up with it!

got mine today from big red toolbox via amazon - pleased as punch
Guess I got the kick in the teeth then. Still very annoying. I don't for 1 second believe the order was lost, no tracking or out for delivery details. I could live with an honest answer......I hate the bulls**t of companies.

Maybe they over sold them or something?
I didn't get tracking with mine.
Can't fault the seller at all, good comms and quick deliver.
I'm happy
Not to sure if you`ll pick up this reply, but i`m curious to know what the black button (above the E in the AEG logo) is for??
