Worth a punt ordered two. One for myself and another for family member.

Does it work with a VPN?..unlike chromecast which does not.

I did the same. One for me & one for family. You should be able to plug A hard drive into it as well

Decent price, heat added
Was pretty interested in this until I saw the formats it supports, not supporting mkv would be the deal breaker for me.

6.2.1 Supported Video Formats
.avi, .wmv, .mov, .mp4, .mp4v, .mpeg4, .m4v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .m2t, .tts, .3gp, .3gpp,
.3g2,.3gpp2, .dvr, .dvr-ms
6.2.2 Supported Audio Formats
.mp3, .mp4, .wma, .wav, .aac, .ogg, .oga, .ogv, .pcm
6.2.2 Supported Picture Formats
.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .bmp

It does, apparently - just going by the info available.
"If when trying to stream a media file from your Windows 7 computer to your TV using the iMedia®
SmartSender™, no option to ‘Play To’ is available, then this may be due to several reasons.
• The file format may is not supported by the iMedia® SmartSender™.
See Section ‘6.2 Supported File Formats’ on page 45 for more information."

Also, in order to send the full HD 1080;

"In ‘PC Sender Mode’ the iMedia® SmartSender™ is capable of Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) output via
HDMI, under certain conditions.
• The PC or Laptop must be running the Windows 7 Operating System.
• The PC or Laptop must have an Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 series CPU.
• The PC or Laptop must have a suitable Intel on-board Graphics processor. AMD/ATI or
NVIDIA Graphics Cards will not support 1080p output to the iMedia® SmartSender™.
If any of the above conditions are not met then the iMedia® SmartSender™ will output a resolution of up
to 1440 x 900 (Widescreen) or 1280 x 1024 (4:3) instead.

Not hating on the deal, just giving info

I just finished converting over a TB of files to AVI H264 & use Freemaker because it's Free... Ho-Ha.User Friendly. Have found that most files that claim to be 1080p are 1920x800 or up to 1920x900 This has USB ports so interesting to find out what I can hook up to it.

I'm pretty sure this will just play whatever is on your PC screen and formats don't matter if you play it that way, the supported formats is probably for another feature like hard drives etc. especially going by that demo on YouTube.

Google how to stream mac to tv wirelessly.
They mention the apple tv, wirelessly pc to tv usb hubs etc. Could point you in the right direction.

Ordered, Interesting device thanks OP

If you have installed Freemake video converter you might want to install Malwarebytes and do a scan as it installs opencandy adaware...

So very tempted. I'm doubtful though... Products I've looked at previously for this job usually can't mirror you PC/tablet/phone screen wirelessly... This one specifically states that's what it does... tempteddd...

(I don't mind lack of full HD)

Windows 8 not supported.

Thanks

Windows 8 not supported.

That's my mistake of the day then

Just installed the software from here on a Windows 8.1 PC
No errors, although that doesn't mean it will actually work.
Given that it is Argos then if it doesn't work, I am sure there will be no difficulty in returning

It might work in compatibility mode.

it's 12 quid... psu worth a fiver HOT!

nice wonder if this would work streaming xbmc to tv or games? or is it just movie's etc.

Posted this last Year and bought one myself so I know about the device and am telling you don't buy one they are rubbish. It's a nightmare to get it working and when you do its useless you can't stream media as theirs a massive delay and the same goes for gaming. It also disconects constantly, I sent it back the chromecast does the same and so much better.

Cold

Was thinking the same idea think this is better my chromecast nothing else better to do brought one.

[quote]It might work in compatibility mode./quote]Thats my post on avforums, never did get anything other than unsupported in W8/8.1 from AEI.Sadly no difference using compatibility settings or uninstall/reinstall of software and drivers.Unless using W7 cant advise buying this.Deal is hot though, these were about £90 not long ago.

My lad got me one of these earlier this year absolute crap, after so many problems with it I ended up running a hdmi cable round the room

I have sent an email asking to cancel.
Seems more trouble than its worth!

just get chromecast and pay for the yahtze remote from the play store. play anything from your network then

At first I thought wifi on your TV? What?

But, given the product calls itself "PC To TV Signal Sender", and the ebay listing says" connect your PC, smartphone or tablet to your TV in order to view your media files" the specific manner of application one would expect to employ on the device is unclear.

I expect you cable tie it to the back of the TV and connect it to that via an HDMI cable.

Now any computer that "has wifi", and the requisite software installed, can output to the unit and therefore the TV.

polly69

, you've got one, which way round does it work? (I know everyone is saying it doesn't bloody work but I only have a 10m line-of-sight run and there's thousands of quid in oak flooring stopping me dig a trench for a cable)

The TV Signal sender is WI-FI. As long as you have Internet access " A Router" The TV Signal sender will pickup the WI-FI signal from your Router and sent the movie's / Music etc to your TV through the HDMI cable that you connect to your TV from the TV Signal sender

Bought one of these last year when it was posted.

Its old tech and personally found it a total waste of money.
Starting the software forces your PC resolution to 1440x900 as thats the max the unit can handle, this for me was a complete PITA.
When displayed on my 1080p tv it looked absolutely hellish.
Video just didnt look right either.

Personally id go for a chromecast, will do all this can do and more.

Hi just got this TV Signal Sender. Does anyone know how to stream from PC to TV. I have Windows 8 thanks
