I was just about to book tickets last weekend for a family trip to New York in July but when I checked the website today the total cost had come down by £300! It looks as if this is due to a sale although I suspect falling fuel prices & the weak Euro might have something to do with it too. Flying via Dublin has the advantage of clearing US Immigration in Dublin and enbles you to avoid the often horrendous queues at the other end.

Travel: 01 April to 31 October
Book by: 26 January

3% Quidco expires in 1 day. I cannot find any promo codes, maybe someone has one?

Does anyone know how long the pre-clearance procedure takes? Our connecting flight would have only a 1h 20m stopover.

Think it might be useful to say that the quoted fare is one way

If you are flying into JFK and have visited the U.S. on and ESTA before you can use the new self serve immigration machines. Took me less than 5 minutes to pass through a couple of weeks ago

Horrible, horrible airline. Don't pack *anything* that looks new in your checked-in luggage. Me and the wife had all kinds of things stolen from our luggage (Christmas presents) - basically they took anything that was in its retail packaging. No compensation from the airline, not even an investigation despite what they tell you. Never flying with them again ever.

Would be the ground staff not the airline wouldn't it?

I had staff rummage through my case on a trip to NY. Didn't take anything but left the new TSA lock off the case and the contents were in a mess - i didn't realise until I got to the hotel and went to unpack.

It's not so much the stealing, but the airline's lack of hoot-giving that irks me. They said they'd investigate, but never did. Aer Lingus were unhelpful to the point of being obstructive. I don't often give up on these things once I get my teeth in, but this one beat me.

All airlines are the same, but they cannot be held responsible for ground staff but what really gets me is they do help if you have a god frequent flyer card I have one and seen them jump through hoops for me when brought family with me on a business trip but only after they found out I had a better ticket and mile points. Every passenger should be treat the same and I always give them that feedback but they don't care to be honest

This deal however deserves to be hot though its around a grand cheaper that I can book with ba for our family

can I ask what dates you managed to get the flights? Always so expensive from north of Scotland and would be great to go!

October holidays x It's Aberdeen to Dublin then Dublin to JFK, but what a bargain! We are thinking of NYC for our honeymoon so this means we could afford a really nice hotel!

I got 2 adults & 2 kids from Glasgow to JFK in July for £2770. It was going to be nearly another grand to fly BA or United (although United was direct). The airline does appear to be the "Ryanair" of this route in that there are quite a lot of complaints about seat sizes and the quality of the food & service. You need to buy any drinks outwith those served with your meal and alcohol is also an extra. Still, 1K will buy an awful lot of onboard snacks & drinks.
