since having a new main oven installed in December it's only been on twice in that time.
Every day I use this halogen.
I love it. Don't understand the folk saying hot on outside and cold inside. Everything has always came out piping hot throughout and nice n crisp. Saved a ton on electric bill as heats up so much quicker too.
If you decide to buy for first time it's a little trial and error as found things generally need a minute or so less than packet says or lower temp. You soon get used to it though.
These are rubbish but good if you like food hot on the outside and frozen on the inside.
Decent halogens are great. If people are unable to cook with them then I'd be turning down an invite for tea tbh.

When I was a younger and singler man, I had one of these because using the oven was overkill. Could make a Sunday roast with one, or cook just about meal. No pre heat required either and yes, the good ones can cook a frozen chicken.

First one lasted 15 months. Once the halogen bulb goes you have to bin it as its non-replaceable.
Now on our second one.
Good price though, think I paid about £30 for the last one.

Never had a problem with ours personally, although a different model.

robertdyas.co.uk/dae…ack Reviews (you may need to scroll to footer of page) seem to back it up also. Obviously not everyone will agree, If it saves someone a bit of cash on a budget, then that's fine by me also

Also a guarantee of 2 years

Ooooo. I always wanted an air fryer, especially a see through one! (The previous one posted here, from Aldi I think, is all black and is not see through). I suppose the disadvantage is the irreplaceable lamp, but a £24 punt for a potential 1.5 years of use (assuming regular use) seems reasonable.
Bought this and returned it. What a Load of rubbish. 40 mins to cook chips and we're soggy. Chicken nuggets, hot on outside and cold inside. If you have an oven use that. Otherwise get a premium one like the Phillips one

Made lovely chicken wings with this, and great crackling on a pork joint

I had a halogen oven for years and they are great! They do give up over time but for £20-£30 they are well worth it. I bought this one last year and it is faultless (and was cheaper at the time)

Wish I'd returned mine.
Also it's bloody massive, no good for just 1 or 2 people

I was wondering, how did you get rid of it? If they don't last long I was concerned at how it can be disposed of/recycled. Take it to them remote sites where you can drop off big electrics/furnitures for recycling?

edit: also I was wondering how the self clean works; I can't find a youtube video!

These don't cook like a proper air fryer (eg Phillips) these use a bulb air fryers use a element which is much more efficient and doesn't blow. Get a proper one

No, I am your fryer!

Doesn't everyone?!?
I've got one. Don't bother using it. As above, hot on the outside, cold on the inside.

Also, stinks out the kitchen much more than your conventional oven
Looks like metal Micky got a paint job and repurposed.

We actually use ours for our family Sunday dinner chicken etc due to the fact it doesn't stink the kitchen as much as the oven! & yes the oven is clean & newish
Code didn't work for me
Hi looks like the code for 10% off is VCOCT10

As I explain to friends, about the plus side...Take a frozen pizza for example.
A NORMAL oven would require you to heat up first, say 10 to 15 minutes, where as the Halogen will have COOKED the pizza in that time, as it doesn't require to be pre-heated.

You have to switch it on first.

If you are genuinely finding that thicker portions of food aren't cooking evenly, don't place them on the upper tray. Turn the temps down a bit and cook for longer on the bottom tray.

Have a look on youtube at how you replace them. Too much aggro.

Just took ours to the local tip/recycling centre. Self cleaning = just put water with a little bit of washing up liquid in it then set the oven to thaw/wash.

Mine was after a year, I managed to replace the halogen bulb myself, got it from Amazon for £6, it does require an hour of time to replace though, so probably worth buying a new one if you can't do it yourself. The oven itself is a brilliant piece of kit mainly for chips, defrosting etc. Highly recommended.
Brilliant things...love cooking chips and chicken in mine...food always piping hot and crispy on the outside but succulent inside.....only issue i had was bulbs...halogen are good and tend to last a year or two ...easy to replace and not too pricey.
Hideous looking contraption.

The bulbs are soldered in and definitely not replaceable without a lot of messing about. Mine blew after a couple of years so got one with Replaceable bulbs (Andrew James £30 with spare bulb)

They are excellent and only use my main oven a few times a year now. Food cooks much quicker than my main oven too. Eg. Proper jacket spud in 15 minutes.

Don't get how some people seem incapable of using them.

Agree. Have this. Used once then it’s now for catching dust. Not recommend it.

What were you both doing, waiting in the shower?
I love my halogen. Cooked a whole roast chicken the other day. Also great for heating and grilling. Had it for 6 months so cannot comment on longevity. But I’d buy another in a heartbeat
this is probably the price point its worth
experienced a daewoo brand before in a soup maker. Appalling quality. Wouldn't buy from again
