Both the Affinity Designer and the Affinity Photo are currently on 50% discount for the iPad, MacOS and Windows. Both the tools are well reviewed and can be seen as a nice replacement to the Adode tools.

Well heck, I bought a license last week. But frankly, Affinity Photo is such a fully featured and truly professional level program, it's totally worth it.

At this price, both apps are insane value. Heat heat!

Oh wait, the Microsoft Store you say?
I've used Affinity Designer for a few years and it's great. Heat

Affinity Photo has been £1 cheaper than this before, but this is the cheapest Affinity Designer has ever been. I got my copy for £35 in their last sale. All the software at least on Windows is really good. The only thing Designer is missing compared to Illustrator is Image Trace. There's a demo you can try out beforehand.
Do you just get a key and can download software from Affinity?

A bit off topic, apoIogies if so, Icurrently use Adobe Photishop essentials 10, and find it a bit clunky. Not keen on spending a great deal, is Affinity Photo any good, or other reccomendations welcome. Using it to adjust digital, and digitised scanned 35 and med format negs.
Already purchased it on Mac and iPad! Totally worth it! HEAT!

Try the demo, it gives you 10 days. Only a 500MB download. The interface is not dissimilar but can be changed around to your liking to quite a significant degree. I highly recommend trying Photo as I know it is very capable, but you're better of demoing it to decide for yourself.
Is there pen support on the surface pro and or ipad pro?

Apple Pencil is supported.
No DAM in Affinity photo is there?
Publisher is available too!!
Thanks @matwalaboy.
Freelance work may be a bit dry at the moment, but these 3 apps will come in handy.
Here's the link showing the price, if you want to add it.

The demo has been extended to 3 months by Serif to help Adobe users who don't want to pay £60 a month during this downtime (or to pirate)
For those who have both how does it compare to Photoshop?
How does this compare to Inkscape, I’m no way it literate and find Inkscape a bit of a head scratcher so happy to pay for a more idiot friendly version.

It compares better than anything else you will find. Photoshop even seems a little rougher around the edges than Affinity. It really depends on which Photoshop features you use the most... I suggest you take advantage of the free trial. affinity.serif.com
If you have Photoshop and Illustrator, do these programs offer anything essential?

I am aware of its isometric design capabilities but not much more.

If you have photoshop and illustrator why you need to buy affinity software. Adobe software is expensive.
Can you have a light coloured UI with this program? Hate the way so many design/photo apps insist on any colour you like as long as it's all black. I blame Lightroom.

Doing the same with old 35mm slides, finding the 4 default buttons to adjust colour etc spot on, the clone brush gets used a lot and the 'inpainting' brush is removing spots like magic (still takes time but worth it). Worth a trail with 30 days to take up the offer.
Thanks been looking to buy Affinity Photo to go with my Publisher
Great products definitely recommended I've used these a good while and updates always frequent with new features and fast bug fixes if found. Great support forum. Very happy with Designer/Photo and Publisher.

£23.99 if you go straight to the affinity website. £23.99 if you go straight to the affinity website. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/

Is it £23.99 each? So £23.99 for photo, £23.99 for designer etc?
Bought all! Affinity products are awesome way more faster than Adobe products. They’ve smashed DTP, I wish they now focus on something new that competes with Adobe After Effects! Designer with motion?

I was referring to the 90 day demo. Have there been any other changes?
Yup each one is £23.99
I have all the desktop versions - will have to grab the iPad ones as well

At full price these were fantastic when compared to how much I used to pay for Adobe CC. But at 50% off - daylight robbery!
Quality one time purchase alternatives to the Ad0bE software
A few £ cheaper (£21.85 for Photo) ordering from US site via vpn using Revolut (and presumably Monzo, Starling etc),

Thanks for the heads up OP

Ok so Affinity sent out a mail shot to users regarding their position on cv19. One of which is that they've changed the demo period to 90 days. The sale is going to carry on until April 20th. Nice gesture!

I'd argue that's rather under selling them. I'm certainly super impressed with Affinity Photo. It has been incredibly useful in assisting with texture work for 3D modelling. I felt like I had a lot to learn rather than hitting limits of the software!

Ok sorry last post. I do wish someone would make a competitor to After Effects, but a LOT can be done in Blender when it comes to visual effects and compositing.

That is the question, are there any tools and workflows that are better within those bits of software.
Responding to an earlier post there is no DAM (digital asset management) capability with Photo, But I use Adobe Bridge which is very good, although it doesn't recognise Photo unique files. As part of my workflow I import from the SD card and convert to DNG, no problem after that and bridge is very good. The only issue to consider is that this does make it more difficult to claim original ownership for copyright purposes, in which case you might wish to keep the original files. I use primarily Lightroom 5, and have so far avoided subscribing to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. At this price, or indeed any reasonable price, it is an excellent programme and a strong competitor to Adobe - and pays for itself after three months subscription to Adobe! The only drawback is that the interface is rather different, but there are plenty of Youtube tutorials. At this price you can't afford to miss it.
