Bought this bench this afternoon as I stumbled across it outside B&Q in Yate.

Some won't like it because it's not reduced from x to y, but this is good value product. I just put this together, 1700mm long, so nearly 6ft and will comfortably seat 6. (A lot of benches that claim to seat 6 are only 1500mm long) It came with good quality fixings, screws and bolts, all the wood is pre-treated and when put together is solid.

This Agad wooden 6 seater picnic table is perfect for BBQ's and picnics in the garden.

Like it! HEAT

Looks good for the money.....HOT

Some might call it a little careless to stumble across a lumping great bench... Or maybe a trip to Specsavers is in order?

Heat added!

What species of wood is it? And what thickness? Most are built of a cheap softwood such as pine and are less than 2cm in thickness. Even treated wood of such quality will only last a couple of years. You are best going for oak or Douglas fir. That said, for this price, you can always use it to keep the fire pit going when it falls apart.

Agree, dont expect the quality to be good.

Not sure on species of wood, but it's 32mm thick.

Is this boxed? Will this fit in the back of the car?

Theres also club card codes you could use to get it cheaper

I bought this in their store sale last year for £25 - it's lasted well but I wish I had applied varnish straight away. Comes boxed, easy to assemble.

Got a cheap one 8 years ago, treated it immediately and once again since and apart from a little rot in one plank it's still fine.

That said I saw this in B&Q last week and it seemed rickety, maybe put together badly?

Not voting - inbuilt mine from pallet wood and then I used a couple of bits of thick timber I had left over for the seats and the cross supports. I bought the bolts and fixings from screwfix. I treated i and it is still perfect today 4 years later. Ok cost wise if you had to buy the timber would be higher than this (possibly) but the product you get is far superior and will last. I recommend anyone who is good at DIY to give this simple project ago theirselves. If you have to buy this looks ok but as others have said it probably isn't the best wood or thick enough. I would treat the timber regardless of it being pre treated to try and get it to last.

I also for this for £25 last year - it's decent enough, but after a year it's turning into a typical picnic bench, warped and a bit flimsy. And I treated it as soon as I got it.

At £25 it was alright, I wouldn't pay £65 for it though.

Everything in B&Q is put together badly. We bought an arbour for £140 a couple of weeks ago. The one in the store was flimsy as hell, but we thought it was worth a punt at the price. It went together really solidly.

I am looking at 24m (?) of timber which costs about £30 + a pack of screws.
It would take me 2-3 hours to cut and build. Seems break even.
BUT HOLD ON A SEC.
This bench is a collection only. It must be a flat pack... so it will take 1-1.5hours to build anyway.
In this case I would be paying myself £35 for 1.5h of cutting timber.
I would rather do that.

Bought this on easter bank holiday used £10 off code down to £55.Looks great in the garden, perfect for barbecues and eating outside.

I also bought this bench about a year ago, when B&Q had one of their big clearances. I paid £15 for it, down from £65 (I think it may have been reduced to £20 or £25, then they said they'd knock a bit more off if I bought it as I was undecided).

Frankly, it's not bad for £15 but I wouldn't waste £65 on it.

There's a lot of flex and bend in the wood when you sit on it, and the whole thing does feel quite light-weight. It has, however, lasted a year and is still in one piece, and given the limited number of times the weather is actually good enough to sit out on it then it's ok for £15. However, it looks and feels pretty cheap and I would strongly recommend putting the £65 towards a more expensive and better quality piece of garden furniture. It's certainly nothing like any of the nice solid chunky benches you sit on in a beer garden or they have out on display in garden centres etc. You get what you pay for with this I'm afraid.
