I ain't leaving on a nippy deal! @reindeer333
Been waiting so long for this. Cheers.
This is also part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/ Game pass for PC if you have that
How does this compare to the 'Complete Collection' which I bought recently? Is this worth it?

This is a remaster of the first AoE game.

On Steam the only AoE with "Complete Collection" is AoE3. There's a forthcoming Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition which is the remaster of that title. You may get a discount as an owner the older version, that's happened for AoE2: DE owners.

AoE1 is pretty basic but if you like these games and the time period go for it. AoE2 has a large competitive community so the recently released DE of that should be getting a lot of attention and updates, true classic. AoE3 is the newer game in the series ignoring the remasters but it never took off competitively due to poor balance and such but it's still fun to play casually.

Speaking of the devil @d_k_u_h , Age of Empire 1 and 2 Definitive Edition Bundled up can be bought for £14.05:

(Note AoE2:DE is £14.99 on its own, so great bundle!)
Oh no, how many copies do I need to buy...

Aoe4 is out soon. This copy is like a dlc, refined graphics, few more civs and new campaigns.
It's a bit broken atm though as stepp lancers are pretty op (apparently).

Spent many a late night playing these on Wireplay then MSN.
Is there a large community on steam still playing?

Not true, it's been fixed in a patch already
I paid a tennar or so for this a couple of weeks ago. No regrets, it's really bloody good if you were into the original. It's what HD should have been. I've lost too many hours in the last few weeks

Online play is wayyy more reliable. (just prepare to get stomped if you're not very good - like me.. I am slowly learning the strats to survive though!! Everyone rushes!)

I wait around 3-6mins for ranked games which is pretty good i think. Just wish they would update UI so could do stuff in game while queued.

Yeah its fixed. I'm really impressed with this version tbh. I was a bit surprised when it came out as I hadn't even heard about it. It's well worth it at this price though.
Just realised this is 1 not 2, not sure I'd bother unless you have a real itch to scratch.

ah your right, thought it was 2 but still a good deal
can someone advise what it's like to buy the game on the windows store as opposed to steam. I really don't want to add any sort of windows account to my laptop if I don't need to.
