Calling 1999 ‘retro’ makes me feel physically ill. *weeps*

Best strategy game out to date. Nothing has the same level of economic and military strategies in one game. Just a masterpiece.

Haha. Haven't played it for about 17 years but certainly remember that. Really like the campaigns in this game, especially the William Wallace one. The words Evet and Ronan come to mind also.
Whoa how do you even play this as I was clearing out my garage yesterday and found the manual and a huge chart, it's not light reading.
It's fairly easy to play, the tutorial is good. The chart will be the improvement tree I guess

Well worth £2.99

I still preferred AOE1.

I must have spent thousands of hours playing this series and I'm not really a gamer. AOE was the first ever game I played online. As you say a masterpiece.

I must have bought this several times in the past but for £2.99 I'll give it another blast.

Settlers 2 got a mention above, another masterpiece.
Apologies for this question in advance: I can see that the minimum specs are listed in the description, but would this run on just about any pc or laptop released in the last few years? We only have a budget laptop, but I'm hoping it would be enough to run this with the game being so old. Even a budget phone would out muscle the PC's from the early 2000's

Settlers is an amazing game. But it doesn’t work on my new iPhone

Played aoe1 a lot. Great game, love the civilizations in aoe1, however aoe2 was much more user friendly, much larger unit numbers, pop limit of 50 on aoe1 was a killer for the game at the time. Also stacking up farms in aoe2 and other helpful features made aoe2 the better game I think. Plus castles and garrison options in aoe2 were great. Assyrians were great in aoe1 tho!

Check specs. I would imagine it would be fine. Just limit the population limit if it struggles

It would struggle on older pcs and budget laptops. But if you have a gaming processors or any sort it would help a lot.

Visit google.co.uk/amp…amp on the laptop you want to use.
This game was the alternate to crysis. Heavy graphics gaming that required a decent gpu and cpu to run
Went to spend £2.99, ended up spending £19.70 on Age of Empires 2, 3 and Age of Mythology complete editions. Oops.

If by older, you mean over 10 years old. This will run on annything built in the last decade
Great game
Hope you are all aware that AOE4 is in production too! Gonna be good!

I don't agree, this is the HD version on steam, a fair bit of processing needed. It'll run, but like me when playing the very large map with 8 players, it struggled a little. Have 1060gpu now, no problem.
