If you want to judge the review by the choice of font, maybe you'd be better looking at the Monster Beats series

On reflection, maybe that's too harsh

A good read cheers!
Read on a bit and found some good recommendations on cable replacements. Apparently the monster i-cable makes a good, lighter alternative

Thanks for the input, chap

Great portables. Heat added.

How can a decent pair of cans be cold & the HMV Beat deal thats not even working has got hundreds of degrees in hours?

Some people have absolutely no idea...

I have a pair of these and use them everyday. It's best that nobody buys these and get headphones like the beats, at lease it'll give people with a pair of these some sort of exclusivity - they don't know what they're missing.

Question, are you using them unamped with an ipod or simliar? How do they sound? Because I don't fancy lugging my portable headphone amp around even though it is 'portable'!

These are really meant to be used unamped because they're made especially as 'DJ headphones' thus are VERY sensitive. I wouldn't recommend these with an amp because I doubt there will be much scope for improvement - they're not Hi-Fi headphones. I just love them for their subtlety, there is hardly any branding whatsoever, adds to the mysteriousness lol and people who know what they are would really appreciate them.

I do have quite a selection of speakers and headphones, so if you need any comparison I'll help you out (they sound much better than HD25s). But the main reason I use these is because they're VERY durable, everyone I've shown them to like the material and it bends! No other headphone can bend like this one, it'll last for years. Got mine shipped from america but this is a very good price - go for it.

P.S. When I got mine, they sounded horrible! But after a few hours they really grew on me, they take time to burn in, but when they do and you compare with your friends headphones they really stand out.

There are reviews around which confirm their high efficiency, such as :

Glad to see that offer of help from owner willww; wasn't so sure about the sentiments in post #13, but maybe I'll learn

I'm relatively new to the headphone scene, but the high 'sensitivity' makes sense!
Yes I've seen reviews over at headfi comparing them to the HD-25's and M50's, neither of them I fancied because of the size (and comfort apparently of the HD's) and as you said the looks are to die for!
It was just a case of knowing how they'd sound on the go. That said, could you compare them to the Bose OE's or the Dre Beats Solo HD's? I'm expecting them to be better but by how much, because I could get the beats for 90 quid.
Cheers

I can't comment on the solos because I've never tried them sorry. It might just be me but I don't own a pair of beats - I find them too flashy (I do like the sound cancellation on the studios though). I give more respect to people who wear Senns or Grados or even Koss!

It depends on what sort of music you listen to. I'm going from memory here, the Bose has a larger soundstage than the TMAs - the TMAs sound tighter/closer to your head, sometimes thats not good but they are DJ headphones. The Bose sound great with any style of music like classical or Hi-fi music, but if you listen to mainly electronic music like I do, the TMAs trumps all others.

You need to see and hear it to appreciate the amount of thought that's gone into the TMAs (30 electronic djs/producers came together to design it). Like I said the TMAs are very sensitive so they react very well to EQ - what a DJ headphone should be.
The material on the TMA will last for a very long time, I feel very comfortable stuffing it in my packed bag without worry of it breaking or cracking, but wouldn't feel the same with a pair of hard plastic headphones.

Buy it, try it, dont like it, sell it, it's what people do on head-fi :).

Thanks Will for your help.
I actually pulled the trigger on it earlier, just couldn't resist. My mate's got a pair of bose and hd's and wasn't particularly impressed by either to be honest. Maybe that's because I'm mainly coming from an open-back headphone (alessandro MS-1) and not used to that sort of signature.
I'll be listening mostly to electronic, so they sound perfect (excuse the pun) and if not as you said, sell em off on head-fi!!
Thanks again!

why would u buy this over an HD25 which can be had for around the same price ?

Check out the scratchworx reviews here, I think it's pretty close between the tma-1's & the hd25 ii's but i'm going for the tma's. I usually get Sony MDR-V700DJ but now I've been through 4 pairs over the last decade or so I think it's time for a change to something more durable as the Sony's don't handle getting battered about in my record bag too well.

Could anyone make any comment on the reliability of the retailer? Considering making the purchase, but would like some reassurance before parting with my moneys.

I bought one back in May after posting this, came ASAP well packaged and loving them!

They've got a facebook page, and they replied to an email I sent before buying with them within hours. They just seem to be doing promotions to get more spotlight. I'm unsure if the code still works mind..

Just put in an order to replace my 5 year old Panasonic headphones which I lost whilst travelling!! Thank you to OP, QueueEater and willww for the info

Placed the order on June 24th, paid for next day delivery, today is now July 4th and no sign of the headphones, I have tried contacting the seller numerous times via phone and E-mail with no response. Has anyone else had problems with the retailer or is this just me?

Original Poster

Very odd..
Try posting something on their facebook wall, should get their attention. Like I said, I emailed before I ordered with them and the reply was instant (and not a generic response). I'm pretty sure they gave me an email with tracking details after my order, have you tried contacting the delivery firm?

Thanks for the quick response QueueEater, just messaged them via Facebook providing a phone number and they responded VERY quickly, turns out the NME10 code is now technically void (though was still processed without problem on the website) and my order was placed in a 'to be dealt with later pile, but was never dealt with. I've been told I'll now recieve my headphones in the next two days, the bloke on the phone was very apologetic and seemed like a genuine oversight.

So, at the end of it, if anyone would like to contact the seller Facebook seems to be the way forward - facebook.com/hea…old

Good to hear! Did they agree on the original price?

Headphones arrived this morning, they agreed to honour the promo price and I believe they refunded the postage, as it took longer than expected.

Mine arrived this morning too. I am burning them in as we speak...

How are you finding them? I found tweeking the eq to the electronic setting (itunes) then adding more treble and a bit of bass til I found a sweet spot got me the best sound.
