Air Asia are starting a sale on 15th Jan (at GMT + 8 hours) which translates to 4 pm UK time on 14th Jan (I think), it is marketed as 'free sale' - but this refers to the fare component only, so the total price is around GBP 6 once the taxes and fees have been factored in. Outstandingly cheap!

Useful for anyone who is travelling to South East Asia!

BIG SALE

Booking Period : 15 January 2013 - 20 January 2013
Travel Period : 20 August 2013 - 9 February 2014

A fantastic airline, I once booked a massive Asia tour courtesy of their sale fares!! It was cheap and one of the best trips ever. Malaysia and around is great - lots of nature, rain forests, great culture, beaches. Furthermore Singapore, Bangkok and the whole region is very accessible.

Typically, In a sale like this, I would book all my regional flights - well in advance. I would then wait for a cheap flight deal to Kuala Lumpur in the following 6 months and hey voila!! An exciting and cheap holiday of exploration.

Their sister company is Tune Hotels - tunehotels.com/uk
and their hotels are all over their destinations - basic and cheap.

Malaysia is very affordable so for something a little more upmarket - a 5 * hotels can be had for as little as £50 per room per night!!!!!!

Sounds too good to be true , but its an incredible deal!!

Confused, flights from £6 to Singapore ?
you have to read the T&C:
- Subject to air traffic-jam
- No landing guaranteed.
- Jump in mid-air is obligatory without parachute
- Disposable air-craft in the next 20 miles.
- No compensation whatsoever.

The link has all the routes and prices - prices are from £6 / RM 26. Singapore is around £12.
Just to clarify, these flights are for regional flights within South East Asia.

This is not for a flight from the UK to Asia as some people may think!!

RM 26 is under £6, exchange rate 1 GBP is 4.87 MYR.

I think you're confusing Air Asia with Ryanair.
Malaysia and KL are awesome. The pound still goes a long way. The vast number of Air Asia connections makes KL a really good hub to explore the region.

Flown under these deals many times, be aware the website will be very slow, patience needed and its easily as confusing as Ryanair with many of the same catches. That said, when your in the air its a good experience, good legroom, competent cabin crews. With the exception of Xmas period reckon on around £550 average return to most SE Asia destinations from UK.
My brother has to go to Phnom Penh in February so he could save a lot of money going to Don Mueang 1st, excellent find OP, have some heat!
Top airline. If you want any advice on Malaysia, give us a shout.

If you're in any doubt about doing a mini-tour of Asia, just do it!
I have flown loads and loads of times with Air Asia, good flights always on time, good service as well. Very cheap, just such a shame they have stopped from UK to Kuala Lumpur x
Only flights inside Asia...nothing to/from the UK....not unless I have made a mistake?
Can anyone explain why would I want to leave my house?
Hot.
Used them a few times.
Don't forget to check the baggage allowance - if you come fully loaded from Europe.

They gave up the route due to high taxes (mainly) Shame KL-LON for 140 quid one way was brill.
I paid £99 one way when they first started LON-KUL + £40 (I think) for KUL-MEL!!!!

It is a shame they do not fly to the UK anymore - this is entirely due to APD costs in the UK and probably the high cost of fuel!

Amazing airline!
If you fly to Kuala Lumpur, you can do this itinerary which I did

KL - Singapore - Bangkok - Macau - KL

KL - Bali - Phuket - Penang (with FireFly) then KL

Hotels are not too expensive, from Trivago...If anyone wants any tips, let me know

lol i paid about the same, just a shame 14 hours without a tv, food, water ha but true, amazing airline
Great post . Flown with them many times and always found them spot on.
I Went London to KL for 129 back in 2011, such shame they stopped the Stansted and Paris connections. But saying that Malaysian air can be just as affordable which I think was one of the main reasons of pulling out and expanding into Australia and Japan.
Struggling to see the deal here....you have to get to Asia then these are cheap flights around Asia....where's the deal?

That's because it doesn't apply to you. I have forwarded this to two separate groups of people I know who will both be able to take advantage of this great offer for internal Thai flights.
Holy Crap , I might go on holiday for my B'Day somewhere.
Make the heading clearer to save people reading through and voting cold as it's no use to them

Hot UK deals. Nothing? UK DEALS.
This is a fantastic deal, thanks OP. I'll be heading out to Asia later this year and I plan to make good use of this deal. Heat added.

Not sure if serious... Ever heard of a thing called 'holidays'?
lol
i think this deal belongs to hotASIAdeals instead of hotUKdeals.
Sorry Should have said post sale price (129 was a sale price). Normally they was going for 260-300 one way Malaysian airlines normally around 400-500 return with STA travel around March-May time
I would recommend Langkawi for some quiet serenity or Penang for food! I love both places and would go back there in a snap! Also don't forget Malaysia has 2 main parts to the country and places like Kota Kinabalu or Kuching (cat city) which are on the island bit, are well worth a visit!!

And yes, this is either useful if you have a trip planned there, or will plan a trip around this offer!

It is not useful if you have any of the following:-
1 - no plans to leave this country
2 - no possibility of being inspired to go somewhere new
I can't find departure from UK? Please advise. Thanks.
I live in Thailand and I've had many Air Asia flights and they are excellent value for money.

Anyone planning a holiday from the UK to somewhere like Thailand during this time, would have a great opportunity to add to their itinerary(including places like Cambodia and Vietnam) at a decent price.

Why not just email your group of friends then instead of wasting everyone's time........
Can somebody help me out here as i'm still a tad confused. Yes, i did read all the posts :p. I basically want to know how anybody planning to use this would make it work for them.

Do i book a flight with return going to the cheapest country, and then book with Air Asia to go to and back from that country to the one i really want to go to? So in total, i am changing planes 4 times and for three countries? 2 return fares in total.

What's the cheapest way to do this for the following destinations:

China
Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur

Be aware flights from Uk arrive Suvarnabhumi airport, Air Asia flies out of the old airport Don Muang, across town. Otherwise yes, at almost any time of the year its cheaper to fly to BKK and buy an AirAsia connection.
You have to make your own way to Asia with return tickets (which you have either already bought or will buy when there is a special offer on) - you may use Kuala Lumpur for example, as a base. You then plan your flights around asia.
