Love our Air Fryer, we probably use it more than we do the oven.
Keep saying I'm going to experiment and try new things to cook in it but never got round to it
nought better than a good old pan of chips from a deep fat fryer with lashings of salt & vinegar or a good old classic fry up.... LOL...

Phillips, had it around 9 years now at a rough guess and still serves us well. My brother has had three I think now, none of them Phillips so I'm guessing they must not be as good.

Thank you.
Nicest air fryer recipes?
I have a Tefal Air Fryer so this will come in very useful. Thanks very much for sharing.

I have a Tower one it’s an average size but you can fit so much food in it. Like SquirbyDude I always say I’m going to try different things in it but never do either. I dont use oil in it I use frylight and you still get a crispy skin in chips/roasties and other food like fish fingers. I love mine and wish I had got one years ago.

Have the tower digital one and instructions say DO NOT USE ANY OIL !
Thank u
How close are the chips cooked in an air fryer to the taste and satisfaction of chips my mother cooked me in the 90s in her deep fat fryer? I'm tempted to get an air fryer as we are all sick of oven chips lol

Ditto. Our Philips is from 2013. Bought a cheapo £25 one from Robert Dyas 18 months to hold in reserve. Still untouched in the box

Same with our Phillips one. Even though some people might tell you to spray with a little oil you don't need to.
It probably depends on the make.

Actifry = use a touch of oil

I got an air fryer today and was so excited to have homemade chips again after years without. They were like cardboard. Those that were cooked properly anyway. Stick to oven chips or get a deep fat fryer/chip pan on the go
Tefal actifryer Vs Philips air fryer. Which is better?

We have an actifryer but it's not used often as it's a hassle to use as it takes longer to cook and clean than ordinary frying

Best buy under £100 in Which? last month was the Ninja AF100UK. We have it. It's great. 40549599-zwcc2.jpg
Thanks for posting. I was thinking of grabbing the Gourmia Air fryer in store in Costco. Its about £60. 5.7l so larger than the 3.8l Ninja.

I like fat chips so I parboil my chips, stick them in the AF with a table spoon of oil and go. They’re perfect. Key not to overfill tray.

Thanks, I'll try this
My airfryer was used once, nobody liked the result!
Will give it another chance!

Which machine did you buy? My chips and roasties turn out great, better than oven chips or aunt Bessie's. I've got a Tefal actifry 2in1.
We use our Philips Airfryer quite often for different types of potatoes - don't just try once and assume the result will always be rubbish. Also worth noting that oven chips are much nicer and crispier done in an Airfryer!

Agreed and try different types of oven chips till you get the best results. I've found the expensive thick triple cooked type rubbish. If like me you're keen on buying British bear in mind many own brands are produced in Belgium which currently has a glut of potatoes whereas McCain, Aunt Bessie and Albert Bartlett are pretty much 100% UK grown

Yes, my first attempt was beyond horrendous, brown on the outside and hard inside. Also check the temperature if not parboiling. I think it needs to be quite low, initially as pots are quite hard.
I have a Duronic, 5 years old. It's brilliant and nobody has ever heard of it. :-)

Yeah you cannot beat chips and fish done in a pan or deep fat fryer with oil - air fryers have only one advantage and that is saving leccie - everything i've cooked in it tastes just the same as it does in my oven although my girlfriend reckons stuff tastes "plasticky" when done in the air fryer.
