Thermal insulationThe 'Fresh' flysheet material is exclusive and patented. It noticeably reduces heat in a tent exposed to the full sun, thanks to its reflective and low emission properties. It has 3 layers: The polyester fabric has titanium dioxide coating and a layer of aluminised coating on the inside. The fabric reflects 56% of the sun's energy, absorbs 35% and only lets 9% inside the tent.

5

Ventilation1 vent at the back of the bedroom. The flysheet fabric over the bedroom can be rolled up to see the sky. 2 ventilation positions on the sides of the bedroom: closed, open (attached to the stays and still protected from rain). The side ventilation can be adjusted from inside and outside. The entrance door has an upper part which can be turned into a mosquito net. Ventilation limits condensation.

6

Pitching/foldingVery quick and easy to pitch and fold down. The "all-in-one" structure uses inflatable arches. Once the 4 corners of the ground sheet have been laid out and fixed, simply inflate the 2 arches using a hand pump (not included). The pole over the top of the side door is set up by fitting a fibreglass pole under the flysheet of the living area.

7

WaterproofingLike all Quechua tents, special care has been given to the waterproofing, which has been verified in lab tests (WHOLE TENT tested under 200 litres of water/hour/sqm!) and on field tests. -- Polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet -- Seams sealed using thermobonded tape -140 5000g/sqm polyethylene groundsheet 5000mm resistance.

8

Wind resistanceWe test all of our tents in a wind tunnel and on a rotating plate to expose each side of the tent to the wind. A properly assembled tent with all the stays in position around the tent should remain habitable;e under wind speeds measuring 50 km/h at ground level.

9

Structure3 layer inflatable arch structure: 1 TPU "air chamber", 1 polyethylene cover with a zip and 1 sheath to keep the arch in the fly sheet. The door canopy uses one fibreglass pole.

10

Tent pegsExcellent twisting resistance (5 mm steel).

All airbeam tents are now beginning to appear at good prices now they've been out a few years. Very tempting.

I bought the pop up illumin fresh 2 man this week from decathlon, wanted the 3 man but that wasn't on sale and the 2 man looks roomy compared to other "2 man" tents and it's mainly just for me. Missed this one, not sure which would be better for me. Main thing was to have a tent that doesn't light up and get so hot in the sunny mornings, waiting for it to be delivered atm so can't comment but it had good reviews.

You patch it up, like you would an innertube on a bike.

I've spent 6 weeks camping in the 2 man 3 seconds pop up tent from Decathalon (in 2010), and recently upgraded to the 3 man, and spent 2 weeks camping around western europe.
These tents are great, we were met with some pretty severe rain and they hold up really well.
if these are anything like the pop up ones, then they're a great buy.

Sale price is a bit misleading given the new, lighter version is only £10 more retail price.

"..takes two minutes to blow or less"

Just watched the video....I have visions of naughty kids letting all the air out while you are asleep and it collapsing in on you.

Which are easier to erect/take down, these or the air seconds pop up ones?

What's a decent good value mattress that doesn't feel like you're sleeping on the floor after 5 minutes.

I just bought one of those self inflating air mat things from Go Outdoors for a tenner. Tested it yesterday by spending all day blitzed in the garden just laying on that. Very comfortable.

I love everything about camping apart from the actual sleeping bit. I'm tall and well built and have always struggled with airbeds.

cold because i already went to Glastonbury.

Just kidding

So the newer version would be the one to go for if its lighter? Decathlon a. It cheeky bumping the RRP on it this to £199.99

The self inflating mattresses are great, but make sure you get at least a 5cm one and you also have to blow it up by mouth for the remaining bit (not like my friend at Glastonbury saying they were rubbish after the 2nd night just letting it "self inflate". He had a lovely sleep and took it all back after I had given him a blow. :-D ). No honestly you do need to blow them up for the remainder until they are full.

My wife and I have a 5cm double which is fine for me, but she has a bad back so she has an extra 5cm single one on top of that.

I bought the £129 one as £10 is £10 and I don't think I will notice 1KG or so in the boot of the car...plus it's more weight when the wind hits. From experience of everything else in the world, new versions are usually worse as they look to save costs but on the other hand maybe they improved a flaw. I know sod all about camping and like every tent I've ever had, I will somehow destroy it on 1st use and never learn...

Great thanks for letting me know, I was duped by the "new range" bit on the £139 tent....is this one any good, I think they said 13/07 for delivery of mine, sadly I live nowhere near a decathlon.

Does anyone know if the ground sheet sewn in?

I'd rather go old school and not have that worry/hassle.

Nice tent, but I wish Decathlon hadn't stopped their Base Seconds range (unusually large popups) in favour of the airbeam style - we have a Base Seconds XL, 4.1 & 4.2 & they're superb. I like the airbeam idea in theory, but can get the vision of a slow puncture saggy tent out of my head. Perhaps they'll eventually bring them back if they realise the second hand eBay prices for them are now up above their original retail prices!

this is the difference. between the two
standard fabric and air vent at the back only on the £139 one the other is this.

Thermal insulationThe 'Fresh' flysheet material is exclusive and patented. It noticeably reduces heat in a tent exposed to the full sun, thanks to its reflective and low emission properties. I called them up before ordering and was told the groundsheet is sewn in to the sleeping part and just hooked in on the front part which suits me as long Ias I don't get wet in my sleep happy

4 man tent, or how it's more commonly known, 2 man tent

Quechua tents are usually bang on size wise, had a 3 man that easily slept 3 big guys, have a 2 man that's tiny when folded up as well as a 4.2XL that has masses of space too. Quality tents that take a hell of a lot of abuse.

Looks like a bargain and a quality tent heat added, but I don't buy the four people and a table inside bit in the video lol

2years warranty on the tent. most only do 1year. being a airbeam that includes the air tubes unlike normal poles which normally are not included in the warranty of most other brands.

Which are easier/better to put up and take down - these or the pop up versions?

Have this and love it. It's easy to put up and down, light, good size sleeping area for four if some of you are kids. The only thing I didn't like is that the "front door" zip on the outer only zips to the ground leaving a horizontal opening at ground level. It would not let water in, there's a hanging-over skirt, but in cold weather it would be drafty.

the pop up ones take 30sec to put up compared to this one. two minutes to pump up. but take down 40 seconds for the air to come out. pop up ones maybe 2yrs to get it small enough to get back in the bag.

If these are easy to put away it should be a must for all those people that leave tents behind after festivals!

Cool thanks. Sounds like the deal breaker with this compared to a pop up tent then is the getting it inside the bag afterwards part!

Does anybody know if you can use ANY floor pump with this or does the end not work with a normal PV/SV dual ended pump?

needs to be pumped up to 7 bar.
you can buy the pump from halfords or the range or camping shops for £7.
a airbed elec pump can be used but you need the adapter which costs £2 from decathlon. best simply buy the normal pump.

Any pump links to save me buying the wrong one would be greatly appreciated
