This is a good price for a 12,000 btu. Were never worth £600 in the first place though - Ebay merchants are usually around £300 but with no backup (parts) or meaningful warranty.
On most of these units (made in China, a huge factory with 20,000 workers on 740 acres) only the covers and electrics change between brands. The plastic outer grille is important as the steel grid ones rust badly within a year. The cases are fairly poorly painted - designed for hot and dry countries I suppose = rust. The workings (condenser) is well plated and rust free - so it's just aesthetics.
B&Q had major problems when these were first introduced with the (leaking) push fit connections that carry the refrigerant. However they sent out engineers to fix at great cost to them. If you get a leak over time it will cost £100+ to have it recharged, there is no DIY option ( in a conventional system there should be zero leakage as it is totally sealed - still suspicious of the push fit 'O' ring types over time).

Finally don't underestimate the cost of running one of these - but with our summers being so brief maybe not that bad........

If you want quality and long life you have to go for the Japanese brands (Fujitsu, Daikin etc) and full copper piping- at approx three times the cost
