Miracast are £15?

I have tried to read the details on this product and don't understand what big difference compare to other streaming sticks. Am I missing something obvious please? Can this ad-hoc directly to TV btw and skip the need of a wireless router? Thanks

Way overpriced for what it is.

Firstly its not a streaming stick. Think of it has replacement for HDMI cable.
Yes, Wireless router is optional. Airtame has its own hotspot and you can mirror your screen on it using that.
Hope that helps.

Depends on what you compare it against. Well look at this.

It's like WiDi to stream your laptop screen to TV set. Most smart TVs already have this.

As they say, you get what you pay for mate. Miracast online reviews seem to show that its unreliable. And when you are presenting to an audience, you don't want that.

true. I think the product's USP is in Business environment or maybe when to want to connect to a projector.

This seems like a solution without a problem

I haven't voted either way, but it does seem expensive.

One of these would seem to do the same job for far less

very, very expensive for what it is. like the idea but not at that price!

No, that device does not provide wireless HDMI.

No, that device does not provide wireless HDMI.

Surely the clue is in the device title?

'1Byone Wireless HDMI'

Guess this could stream HDMI from my sky box to my tv rather than running a 10 metre HDMI cable - if only the decimal point was one place to the left - just a matter of time before there's an affordable way to replace long HDMI cable runs.

I don't think it can. This looks like it's just a miracast or widi receiver so you won't get anything to plug into your sky box to transmit.
And I thought net gear push2tv boxes were overpriced!

Looking at the sketchy details and questions and answers (for the cheapy amazon link) it will certainly not work from a sky box. It states you need to install software on the device that you want to stream from, seems the device connects to your wifi and picks up the stream from the software, much like plex etc..... so the cheapy is very much not a full wireless hdmi connection like the original deal.

Edit - seems the original item also isnt quite a simple wireless hdmi and has to be from a smart type device to receiver, so it is virtually the same it seems.
