Great price for this.

I use it to make the sauce for my stone pot Bibimbap.

I need some... cheers from a fellow yellow

Mmmm kimchi

Hot!

Would be very interested in your recipe for Bibimbap - I enjoy cooking and would give it a try!

Only 10% chili content though, it would be more honest calling it starch and wheat sauce. The Huy Fong Sriracha at least has Chili as the top ingredient at about the same price - sainsburys.co.uk/sho…5ml

Gochujang from Sainsbury’s !? I buy Sempio brand from Korea Town and love it in pasta!

Got my recipe from here.

Instead of the mince beef, I use the leanest rib eye I can find cut into very thin strips. (cost £2.80 ish @ Tesco)

I was in HK over the summer and purchased some stone pots (dolsot) from Shanghai Street in Yau Ma Tei. Paid about £10 each, much cheaper than from Amazon sellers or from ebay.

To get the crunchy rice, I cook some Sushi rice in my rice cooker, add 1 tablesppon of sesame oil into dolsot and heat in oven at 180 deg for 15 mins. Then remove from oven and heat on gas hob at lowest setting. After 5 mins, I spoon the cooked rice into the dolsot then add ingredients from the above website. (I like strips of courgette, strips of carrots, beansprouts, Hong Kong dried mushroom soaked for 1 hr then stir fried , spinach and a fried egg on top and Korean dried seaweed cut into thin strips)

I let it cook in the dolsot for about 10 mins to get the crunchy rice

Add sauce just before serving and simply mix it all up.

Link fixed.

You can cook it without the dolsot and just use boiled rice in a bowl but I like the crunchy rice too much.

Ahh thanks!!! Love this stuff. Makes a great dipping sauce when mixed with sesame oil and soy sauce too... Will give your bibimbap recipe a try at some point!

That's why this is "gochujang" and not chilli sauce, they're completely different things.
This is traditionally meant to be a fermented soy based paste, but in this case it uses wheat.

Morning Speculator - many many thanks for the recipe, very detailed, appreciated. Shall get organised with all ingredients and try it this week-end. Again thank you for taking the time to share! Regards Mousey

Couldn't find this at my local Sainsburys when I tried to get it a few weeks ago. I asked the CS desk if they could check the item code just in case I'd missed it somewhere in the store but they didn't actually stock it and said that the nearest store that did hold stock was a fair few miles away. It could possibly be down to not being much call for it in my area, maybe.

Ended up buying it from Amazon along with some Gochugaru and Soybean Paste (Doenjang - the one in the brown tub) was probably more expensive that way but saved me a trip into town.
